Chapter Fifty-Two: A Change In Appearance

"My uncle and I have a strained relationship," he said simply. "Do not ask me any further questions concerning that."

"Oh," Velma was downcast, her curious self wanting to know more. "Well then, what happened to me?"

"I don't know," Tharnis shrugged. "You disappeared."

"Where did you find me?"

"In my garden."

"Oh?" Lines of thought appeared on her forehead. Had she disappeared to his garden or had someone brought her to the garden? Was the vampire prince even telling the truth?

"Yes," Tharnis said. "At first I thought the guards had captured you but you found away to escape and fell unconscious. Then I realized it must have been fate because the guards would have detected your smell."

"The potion, remember?" She explained, reminding him of what they had used to mask his scent.

"I found you two days after I was brought to the palace," Tharnis deadpanned. "The effect wears off within a day.
