Chapter Fifty One: Secrets and Gossip

"My lady, my lady, you will be late," Myrtle woke up to Mary shaking her body vigorously.

"What time is it Mary?" she asked still groggy.

"8:45am"

"Wake me up by nine," she muttered.

"No, no Lady Esmeray said you are to get up immediately, Lord Creon too," Mary said firmly tapping Myrtle as she did so.

"Fine, fine, I'm awake you can leave," Myrtle said sitting up lazily.

"I'm not leaving until you leave the room," Mary said smiling with her hands folded. She knew her mistress very well, if she were to go she would lock the door behind her and go back right to sleep.

"You're such a bother," Myrtle said stretching her body.

She picked something comfortable to wear and Mary helped her fix her hair.

First, she had to visit the seamstress.

"My lady," Clinton greeted her but she only responded with a yawn.
