Chapter Fifty Five: A Fall and an Escape

Reuben cautiously opened the bathroom door, his senses heightened as he surveyed the room. Dante's search of Tharnis's quarters had yielded no results, but Reuben remained vigilant, determined not to let the girl slip away if she was still lurking nearby. His eyes were drawn to the forced-open window, and he swiftly made his way towards it, climbing onto the edge of the bathtub for a better view outside.

His gaze scanned the area below, and he let out a low whistle as he took in the sheer drop. It was a perilous fall, one that would have surely resulted in instant death for anyone foolish enough to attempt it. Reuben's eyes narrowed as he carefully examined the window, his attention drawn to the fang blade that had fallen into the bathtub. The marks it had left on the metal locks were unmistakable, a clear sign of the girl's escape route but then again, the window was quite small.
