Chapter Eighty Four: The Test

The darkness in the room enveloped every corner, intensifying the atmosphere of tension. It seemed to press against Velma's skin, heightening her anticipation for the anticipated flash of crimson in Tyla's eyes. But to her surprise, there was no such manifestation.

Amidst the darkness, Velma could discern the faint sound of Tewkesbury's shoes scraping against the floor, as he fumbled to locate a light switch. A dim glow filled the room as the lights flickered on, revealing the scene before them. Tewkesbury, not one to waste any time, promptly drew back the curtains, allowing a sliver of daylight to penetrate the room. Tyla's face scrunched up in confusion at the sudden change.

"Why did you do that?" Tyla questioned, her voice tinged with bewilderment.
