Chapter One Hundred & Eighty Nine: Intrusion

The voice was unmistakeable. The same as the voice that had approached her when she hid amongst the servants that day at the blood moon festival. The voice of the person that carried a hint of mischief in it.

"Velma you need to focus," Dedruh snapped. "What are you on about?"

"Darius..." Velma trailed off, still fiddling with the pendant. "I can hear him."

Dedruh studied her for a while. "It is the necklace. Take it off."

"I cannot," Velma said stubbornly.

"Then do not allow it to distract you." Dedruh was in no mood to argue with anyone. It was not his people that were at stake, it was hers. At the same time, guilt ate him up because he knew that her people being at stake meant the druids would eventually be at stake.

"Can you hold on? If you can hear me... That is..." Velma whispered, still clutching the necklace.
