The party became a mess after Jake and Nathaniel left. It was no wonder, Jake said loud and clear that Nathaniel was his omega. Now it would be a matter of time before rumors of the two began circulating through the college, if not the entire city.
And that certainly worried Guilherme about his brother.
As if it wasn't enough that his brother had to hide from the media that insisted on stalking him to find out about his relationship with Ares, now it would surely make things worse if they found out he was getting involved with an alpha.
All this thanks to a person who always provoked him.
Turning furiously to Caspian, Guilhermme swallowed every word he loved to say to him. Few and good, certainly laden with their anger that exceeded the limit of their patience. Clenching his fist, the beta was about to explode with rage.
The red alpha noticed the attention he received from the beta, and soon opened a smile of pure scorn.
— Ha! At the end of the day, you were cheated.
Again he said that. It was ridiculous how Caspian looked like an ant walking in circles. Massaging his forehead, William tried to calm down.
— Nathaniel didn't cheated me, stop talking nonsense.
— You just heard what that guy said! — the alpha shouted.
Why was he so insistent on that nonsense? It was not now that he insisted on that nonsense that Nathaniel had cheated him. It's not like Caspian saw Nathaniel as his boyfriend.
It reminded him of something...
Ah... What happened at the farm. Practically all his teammates thought the same thing. Just because Guilherme was always with Nathaniel, his teammates thought that the two were hang out together, after all they do not look like anything and do not have the same last name.
— Haa — Guilherme sighed at finally understanding the misunderstanding — Why do people always think I'm dating Nath? This is absurd.
It was not only Caspian who seemed curious to know, the other guests of Jonas also looked to Guilherme thirsting for gossip. It would be nice to end it once and for all, could just enjoy the wave of gossip that would come.
— Nathaniel is my older brother. So stop thinking we're together!
The murmurs that spread through the garden completely dispensed with the silence of curiosity. Now they would be busy gossiping about Guilherme and Nathaniel being brothers instead of dating. At least the beta expected this to end, once and for all, that misunderstanding.
— It seems that Jake took your brother to our place — Matheus warned looking at his phone - It is better to warn your parents that he won't return tonight.
— All right, thank you, Captain.
Matheus smiled stroking beta's head. It was a relief that his brother was with Jake, hoping that the alpha would be able to calm and distract Nathaniel.
So, it's okay if he goes home too, right? The party's completely lost its fun.
Entering the house to get his bag, Guilherme felt tired and frustrated. He wanted to have fun with his brother, got in the pool with him and played a little, but everything went down the drain. Even Nathaniel had not entered the pool, which was a shame.
When would he have fun with his brother like old times?
— Wait a minute!
Shivering at the voice of Caspian, Guilherme hurried his steps to the room where he had left his belongings.
Pretend you didn't hear.
Ignore its very existence.
— Hey, I told you to wait!
As soon as he entered the room, Guilherme desperately searched for his bag. He needed to find it as soon as possible to finally get out of that house. He did not want to speak to Caspian, he knew very well what awaited him.
Since he was rejected, love and hate fought within him.
This is because Guilherme did not forget how brilliant Caspian was before he knew his feelings. Always smiling and playing with friends, there was no one better than Caspian. The beta could still feel every feeling it had when it realized it had fallen in love with the redhead.
It was so remarkable that it would never forget.
After all, it was his first love.
And because of those damn memories, he couldn't let go completely. Despite hating the Caspian who completely repudiated him.
— I told him to wait! — Caspian finally caught up with Guilherme, holding his wrist preventing him from running away — I said before I wanted to talk to you.
— But I have nothing to say, in fact I've said everything I had to say. And so have you.
Guilherme raised his arm, hoping that Caspian would understand what he meant. If he had forgotten, it would be just another hammer to his heart already full of holes.
— If I really felt disgust I wouldn't be running after you.
Biting his lip to contain the sudden rage that flooded his chest, Guilherme tried to remain rational. This was a difficult task.
— But I'm disgusted with you — the beta answered, pulling his wrist to get rid of Caspian's hand — disgusted by the person who treated me like a whore snobbing and slandering without even knowing me right. I'm disgusted with people like you, Caspian.
— If you had made things clear before, I would never have said those things!
— Did I need to make it clear? Mind you, Caspian! What you did to me I don't even wish for my greatest enemy. That's how trash I felt.
— You acted like you were together when you had just proposed to me! What did you want me to think?
— And why does it matter? I must remind you for the thousandth time it was you who rejected me. So why are you running after me? Do you want me to keep liking you?
Caspian hesitated and looked away. Guilherme was surprised to see his expression of anger contained and his attempt not to admit anything.
Why was he acting like that?
What did Caspian really want from him?
He wonder if...
— Do you really want me to keep liking you? — Murmured the beta with bewilderment — Are you kidding me? After all I've heard from you?
— I just, um...
— It's amazing how I can understand why Jake really got mad — A deep voice came up in the room. Leaning on Guilherme's head, Matheus seemed the carelessness in person, despite his tone of voice saying otherwise — You really are a pain in the ass for continuing to mess with my boy.
— Captain!
— And you guys are a bunch of nosy people. We were talking and he's not your boy.
— And birdie can talk? That's new. — Matheus chuckle, holding Guilherme's shoulder — He's the rookie of my team, and I'm his captain. So he's my boy. Do you understand or do you want me to draw?
Caspian stepped forward, confronting Matheus.
— If he's just a player on your team, then don't mind his own business.
— Ah, come on, come on! I'm a gossip, what I like best is put my noise on it — Matheus turned to Guilherme hugging his shoulder ignoring the red alpha — I'll take you home, all right?
— S-Sure!
— Hey! I said we were in the middle of a conversation! — Caspian held Matheus' wrist staring furiously — And don't touch him.
Matheus threw a sharp look at the redhead, who still did not let go of his wrist. Guilherme blinked a few times because he thought he saw wrong. His captain hardly seemed angry, but now he was... scary.
— You're a real pain in the ass. You don't have to ask to get beat up, after all you're our target. Soon we'll settle the score.
The pull that Matheus gave to be released was so strong that Caspian came to take a few steps back. And before the redhead tried to stop them again, the alpha pushed Guilherme out of the room and consequently out of Jonas' house.
What had just happened?
And what did Matheus mean by soon settling the score? Jake had also said something earlier. For some reason, Guilherme could not calm down. It was as if his instinct warned him of some imminent danger.
A warm touch in his head made him wake up from daydreams. Raising his head, he saw Matheus already more relaxed and with the playful smile ever on his face.
— Relax, kid. It's gonna be okay.
— Thanks for getting me out of there.
— I knew you had some shit going on with this guy, but now that Jake's in on it, I can't just stand by.
— No need to worry, Caspian do nothing...
— Oh, but it's not going to — Matheus chuckle again, putting his hands in his wet shorts — Now that he's a target, I want to see if he's got the balls to do something.
The blush took over Guilherme's face. His captain looked like a superhero who appeared to help him. Usually it was his brother who fulfilled this role, but in his absence Matheus appeared.
He just couldn't tell if he should feel pathetic for always needing to be protected, or felt grateful for having so many people willing to protect him.
The car parked across the street was opened. The two boys entered the car and soon Matheus drove through the small town. Facing the landscape, Guilherme could not calm down yet.
I mean, Matheus helped him and that was a big relief, but he didn't like the idea of his new friends getting involved in his problems. Caspian used to torment him, but he never laid a finger on Guilherme.
Was it because he liked Guilherme?
That was kind of hard. But he've never seen the redheaded alpha make that expression before.
Shaking his head, Guilherme pushed those thoughts away. No way would Caspian have feelings for him. He never got involved with boys, and the horror on his face when Guilherme confessed was unforgettable.
No one would change overnight.
And Caspian always made it clear what he thought about Guilherme.
— Didn't you wonder what's going on between Jake and your brother? — Matheus asked suddenly.
— Hm? No, why should I?
— It's not always that people accept two guys together, and now they're gonna be talking about them, so I thought you'd feel uncomfortable.
Were Matheus worried about him?
Matheus always seemed like someone who had control of everything, a figure who was worthy of admiration. Guilherme considered him mature and intelligent to the point of being enviable.
Watching the way he looked relaxed while driving was certainly unheard of. Matheus had his arm leaned against the car window and seemed uninterested, which contradicted the conversation.
He was so cool.
— I'm just worried that Nath might end up in worse situations. But ever since we've met Jake, he's been helping my brother, so I hope Jake can protect him.
Matheus looked at him from the corner as he stopped at the traffic light. Then he stroked the beta's blonde hair again, opening a smile.
— You really like your brother, don't you?
Now Guilherme realized that Matheus always stroked his hair, and his hand was large and warm, somewhat welcoming. The touch was kind as if taking care not to hurt the beta.
Tum-Tum.
Tum-Tum.
The traffic light opened and the conversation ended. Guilherme's head still seemed warm at the touch of the alpha. Turning his face to the window and hiding it with his hand, the beta whispered.
— Thank you for helping me.
What he did not expect was that Matheus also paid attention to himself, keeping the smile on his face and his posture relaxed when responding.
— You're welcome.
