"Why did I dodge?" Owen mumbled under his nose. He strengthened his grip on his bow. "No, I know why... I can't let them down..." With a renowned will to fight the clash between Levi and Owen will begin.
"An impressive dodge by Owen from The Soaring Lions... It'd be even more impressive if he wasn't shaking so much!"
The commentator's word didn't really get through Owen as he was still deep in thought. Even though his will to fight has increased he still feels unsure of everything. He's up against a seemingly pretty skilled sorcerer. Atleast, compared to him. Owen's range is possibly more limited but he can't excatly just close the distance...
He knows the bet chance of winning he has is by weakening Levi and killing of his mana supplying skeleton mages. Owen took aim at one and shot, it got closer and closer until eventually nearly hitting the skeleton mage.
"It's futile. Now that I see you and your way of fighting, it's all futile." A barrier appeared right as the arrow was going to make contact. A protective spell casted by Levi. Owen was visibly distraught. If he can't kill the power supplies he'll have to take Levi on at almost his strongest form. Owen's will was faltering. He wasn't sure if he can do it... He remembered the time in the forest, where he almost let Simon down. He remembered vividly feeling disgusted by himself when he almost abandonded him.
Kristina and Rocky was watching on O.L.A.F. Rocky seemed to question Owen's strength, he pointed at him and said "Kwe?"
"Don't worry, according to Simon, Owen can do it. And since he trust him so should we..." Kristina said, but she remembers of how she was never sure of Owen as the guild co-leader. But now seems different. She sees his will to fight, she remembers her converstation with Simon that one time. She knows that all she can do now, is root for them.
Even so Owen was still lost, he didn't know what to do. Multiple magic missiles came at him, he managed to swiftly avoid them. If anything he can keep Levi occupied until Simon finished up with Loid. He took a glance at the two's clash, nothing seemed to be happening, their swords kept hitting each other. They ran at fast speeds, it seemed like an even match-up. Then a thought popped up in Owen's head. 'What if he doesn't win?'
This thought was instantly interupted by another barrage of magic missiles he had to dodge. But not just that. It seemed the crowd had taken notice to Owen. Most of them were rooting for the Soaring Lions now, the ones they considered the underdogs at the beginning. Everyone was at the edge of their seats with each magic missiles which could end up knocking Owen out. No one spoke a word, but everyone was relieved to see him dodging. Owen didn't notice they were rooting for them. He was thinking of a way to be able to take out Levi. Then from the crowd he heard, a small and high voice, it must have been a little girl, he couldn't quite see. But he heard. "You can do it!"
It made Owen remember a memory from before he was wandering...
"So you are becoming an adventurer big bro?"
"Yeah! I'm going to become big and strong! Just like Rolend!"
It was him, and his little sister. Back when she was still alive. He remembers vividly at their father yelling with their village assigned MSO (Magic Security Officer) about how his daughter had disappeared. He remembers the excuse the MSO made, something out side of their jurisdiction. Days later the woodsman found his sister. She was still alive, they brought her back to the village but found she was badly wounded, and was inflicted with an incurable disease. A mere week was all she had left... Owen couldn't help but blame himself, he wanted to go look for her sister. Perhaps, if he did. She'd still be around...but he let his own cowardice consume him. He realised he had to act...otherwise, he'll remain a coward. Owen decided to begin wandering on the day of the funeral, he attended of course, and his parents while not whole heartedly agreeing with his decision still supported him. A month later he joined up with Simon, back then all he told him that he wanted to become strong and fearless. He remembers for a short while it was only them two.
He remembers how he was found, shaking from the sight of some wolves. He remembers their fight with the giant spider. He is grateful for the time he spent with the guild. And for that reason, and for the reason that so many believe in him. He grabs three arrows from his quill, takes aim, and shoots. Each arrow aiming for one on the other side, the sheer speed left Levi without any time to react. He casted a protective spell on himself rather then dodging. The two skeleton mages crumbled next to him. He was visibly pissed off. The crowd began cheering.
"You...You.... You good for nothings! Couldn't even protect yourselves from one mere arrow." Levi kicks the sand around him which the skeletons were standing on.
Owen was weirded out by this sight, but he took aim once more for Levi, he thought that now that he is engraged, he'll be an easy target.
"What. Do. You. Think. You. Are. Doing?" Levi said as he brought his staff up, his spell created a blunt spike from the ground hitting Owen's stomach which made him crumble.
"Oww-" The crowd said in sync. Slowly Levi made his way over to Owen who was lying down on his stomach, his bow and arrow still in hand but Levi knew he lacked the strength to pull it. Levi placed his foot on his head and began twisting it to his face.
"I told you, if all you did was take the magic missile and get knocked out...we wouldn't be here right now! To think you even had the thought of being able to defeat me... You're nothing... You're weak..."
Simon saw from the corner of his eye...yet he couldn't help, he was occupied with Loid currently.
He didn't have much to fear though, since almost immediately as Levi said 'You're weak' Owen flipped over from his stomach and stabbed an arrow into Levi's leg. Levi pulled away in pain.
"You son of a-" Before Levi could even finish, using up all he had left in him. Owen jumped up and punched his face with everything he has got. Knocking out the not-so durable wizard.
Owen was cheered for, though he couldn't register it for more than a few seconds...ultimately his body also gave out. He dropped down, and disappeared alongside Levi. But even if this meant a tie in the Guild War. To the crowd, and to his guildmates, it meant victory.
Kristina and Rocky welcomed Owen back with a congratulative smack on the back.
Then they looked back on to the screen...
The only ones remaining... were Simon and Loid, the two leaders.
