Chapter - 25 - Staging a Scene

Tang Li didn't bother to talk to her or respond to her taunts.

She looked in the yard and didn't see Minghuan.

Guessing that he might have gone out, she carried the clothes to the well. She put them in a basin, filled it with water, and began to wash them.

"How much did he pay for your medical treatment?" Wang Lanxiang carrying a basket of wild vegetables, also came to the well to clean, stared at her and asked. 

Tang Li glanced at her and said coldly: "It's none of your business! It's not your money!" 

"Fuck your mother! Why isn't it my money?! Every penny that bastard earns belongs to me!" Gu Xiulan started cursing again, but didn't dare to hit her again. 

"I dare you to scold him!" She stopped scrubbing, raised her head, looked at Gu Xiulan coldly, and said word by word.

"Oh, you bastard, you know how to protect your own man?!" Gu Xiulan was taken aback by her sharp eyes, and then uttered a series of disgusting swear words. 

Tang Li grabbed the edge of the water basin irritably, and counted silently for five seconds.

Gu Xiulan next to her was still babbling and cursing.

She took out the clothes with a cold face, picked up the basin of water, and splashed it on Gu Xiulan. 

Tang Li looked at Gu Xiulan, who was soaked and in a daze, and said, "Sweet!!"

'Who told her to have a dirty mouth and a poisonous heart!!'

"Ahh! You bloody bitch!" Gu Xiulan wiped the water from her face, and yelled angrily. She rushed towards her with all her might, trying to scratch her and beat her. 

Tang Li's cold was much better, and her body was full of energy.

When she saw Gu Xiulan rushing towards her, she easily dodged. She even picked up another basin of dirty water next to her and poured it on her again. 

Tang Li ran outside after splashing her. She looked back and saw Gu Xiulan fiercely chasing after her with a broom in her hand. 

A cunning light flashed through her as she ran with a panicked face. Running she yelled as loud as she could:

"I dare not! Please, don't hit me..."

It was past six and the people who were working in the fields had already started to call it a day and go home for dinner. Therefore on the road there were many villagers in twos or threes carrying their tools and returning home.

As soon as Tang Li saw the villagers she ran into crowd. Whenever she saw someone familiar she yelled, crying for help saying that her mother-in-law was going to beat her to death.

All the villagers stopped in their tracks and asked what was going on.

"You little bitch, don't run away! You dare to pour dirty water on me, I will beat you to death today..." Gu Xiulan followed behind her with a broom held above her head, staring fiercely, gnashing her teeth and cursing. 

"Captain Yi, woo woo woo... you have to save me, my mother-in-law, she really wants to kill me..." 

When Tang Li saw Yi Feng, the female leader of their production team, her eyes lit up slightly, and she hurried over to her. She grabbed her arm tremblingly and hid behind her. 

"Tang Li, don't be afraid! I'll stand up for you!" Yi Feng straightened her back, frowned, patted her on the shoulder, and said calmly. 

As the women's captain, of course she knew that Tang Li didn't go to work today.

She heard that she had a fever after being beaten up by her mother-in- law. Looking at her appearance she was really miserable.

Her nose was bruised and her face was swollen up from the thrashing. Her face was still red because of fever. Her hair was messed up, and she was trembling from fright. 

Yi Feng's heart of upholding justice was stimulated. She pointed at Gu Xiulan and shouted loudly:

"Mrs. Gu, put down the broom first! Look at how you are beating people up. This is your daughter-in-law, not an animal!"....
