Tang Li wasn't sure about the extent of the "infidelity" from the original owner's memories. To gather information, she decided to test Xiao Ru with her words.
She could use her words to attack, retreat, or defend as needed.
She wanted to deny any romantic involvement with Mo Jing, regardless of what the original owner had felt, in a way that wouldn't raise suspicion from Xiao Ru.
However, Xiao Ru's response could reveal some crucial information.
"You may not have said it out loud, but every time you see Mo Jing, your face turns red. When I asked if you liked him, you didn't say it, but you nodded," Xiao Ru responded, falling right into Tang Li's plan.
Tang Li replied, "Well, that's because you always tease me. I feel too embarrassed to argue, so I just nodded to get you off my back."
Tang Li was relieved when she realized that the original owner hadn't explicitly confessed her feelings.
She straightened up and said seriously, "Ru, let's not discuss me and Mo Jing anymore. Talking about it will only harm me, my husband, and even Mo Jing."
Xiao Ru was surprised and looked at Tang Li with disbelief. "Did your husband return and now you've changed your mind?"
Tang Li asserted firmly, "I'm telling you again, I have no feelings for Mo Jing!"
Tang Li would never admit to anything, no matter what the original owner might have thought.
As Tang Li kept denying any involvement, Xiao Ru suddenly understood why, because Tang Li's husband had returned.
She patted Tang Li sympathetically and whispered, "Don't worry, Li. I'm the only one who knows about you and Mo Jing. I won't tell anyone, including your husband. You don't have to fear him getting angry and beating you."
Tang Li felt conflicted but managed to say, "Thank you."
Seeing Tang Li's discomfort, Xiao Ru changed the subject.
"Li, have you recovered from your cold? Will you come to work tomorrow? It's boring to work alone."
Tang Li inwardly scoffed at Xiao Ru's request for help with work.
She knew she wasn't bored; she just wanted assistance.
"I won't be coming. My husband is back, and I want to return to my mother's house with him." Tang Li didn't want to sever ties with Xiao Ru right now because she knew about her "infidelity."
However, Xiao Ru hadn't shown the original owner gratitude for all the help she had received.
Tang Li suspected that Xiao Ru had exploited the original owner's feelings for Mo Jing to make her do her work.
Regardless of her thoughts, Tang Li felt aggrieved. Even though she didn't want to cut ties with Xiao Ru, she still wanted a little repayment from her.
"Ru, the team leader assigned me to weed the grass yesterday, and I haven't done it today. Could you help me with it?" Tang Li blinked her eyes, opened her mouth, tugged at her clothes, and asked with a hint of coquettish pleading.
"Fine," Xiao Ru reluctantly agreed, a bit put off by Tang Li's exaggerated pleading.
"Ru, you're so kind! Thank you!" Tang Li's smile brightened.
A moment later, she lowered her head, twisted her fingers, bit her lip, and looked at Xiao Ru with embarrassment.
Xiao Ru couldn't help but tremble and an alarm sounded in her head.
'What was she planning?!'
"Ru, if my mother-in-law finds out I couldn't work and earn work points today, she won't let me off.
Can you help me with the work, and I'll get the work points credited to me? You're my only friend. Please." Tang Li pleaded with a hint of desperation....
