Chapter - 45 - Learn Medicine

Yi Minghuan accepted the chopsticks and didn't immediately start eating the fish.

Instead, he looked at Tang Li and spoke straightforwardly, "You've said 'thank you' quite a bit today."

Tang Li paused for a moment, realizing that he was gently chiding her for overusing the phrase just like him. She cleared her throat and replied, "Ahem, I'll try to say it less in the future."

Yi Minghuan nodded and began to eat his meal with measured bites.

His eating pace was swift but not impolite. His every movement exuded a certain aura, making it a pleasant sight to behold.

Tang Li couldn't help but steal glances at him several times. Whenever their eyes met, she quickly averted her gaze, feeling somewhat bashful.

Tang Li found herself at a loss for words due to her own actions.

'Restrain yourself woman!'

The two of them swiftly finished their meal.

Tang Li took the fish soup to father Yi, who, under Yi Minghuan's watchful eye, drank it tremblingly.

After savoring the soup, he praised its deliciousness, causing Yi Wanjing's face to darken even more.

Upon returning to their own room, they heard a commotion coming from the main room, filled with shouting and cursing.

'Gu Xiulan had woken up.'

"It's no longer peaceful here," Tang Li sighed, looking at Yi Minghuan. "We should find a new place and move out as soon as possible."

Yi Minghuan agreed with her. "Yes, we should. I'm looking for a house. The one I have in mind is a bit run-down, but we can build a new one within half a month, and you'll be able to move into a new home."

Tang Li didn't mind the prospect of living in a slightly dilapidated house temporarily.

She argued "Minghuan with the upcoming busy autumn harvest, it would be difficult to find people to help build a new house, and our new residence, no matter how rundown, would still be an improvement from here."

Yi Minghuan accepted her perspective and agreed that they should move out first and build a new house later.

However, as newlyweds, he wanted to provide her with the best living conditions. So, he made a promise. "I won't let you continue living in a shabby house for long. After the autumn harvest, we'll build a new one."

Touched by his sincere words, Tang Li felt her heart warm and swell with sweetness. She was moved by his commitment to their marriage and his earnest efforts to make their life better.

"Old man Wang's house in the eastern part of the village has an unused yard that has been vacant for quite some time. What do you think about inquiring if he's willing to sell or rent it to us?" Tang Li suggested after considering her knowledge of the village residents.

After searching the memory of the original owner, Tang Li filtered all the available yards in the village, and only this one was the most suitable.

Yi Minghuan nodded in agreement, finding her idea reasonable.

After discussing their housing situation, Tang Li brought up another matter. She remembered that she wanted to 'study medicine' so she mentioned it to him.

"I'd like to learn medical treatments and medicine skills from Uncle Zhang. Do you think that's okay?"

Yi Minghuan looked surprised by her request and asked, "You want to become a doctor? It's not an easy path."

Tang Li nodded and explained, "My younger brother's health isn't great. Our family spent all our savings on his medical treatment, and it didn't yield results."

"Additionally, despite not eating much, I gained a lot of weight after a severe illness. It seems like a medical issue. I believe that if I learn about medicine and treatment, I might be able to help myself and my brother. More Importantly I want to learn something that can add purpose and value to my life."

Yi Minghuan considered her words, finding them somewhat naive but sincere. Her last sentence, in particular, touched him deeply. "If you want to learn, then learn."

He appreciated her warmth and the genuine reasons behind her desire to learn medicine.

He understood that having something to look forward to in life was as important as having a purpose in life, and her determination struck a chord with him.

For him, having a dream of attending university, even if it felt distant, gave him a sense of purpose and hope for the future...
