Chapter - 63 - Provoking Su Cheng

"How do I know if you can do it?! It's not like I asked for this....chat! Second sister-in-law here was just messing around, claiming that I have the most physically fit man, so I got roped into this!"

Tang Li retorted, rolling her eyes while addressing Yi Wanjing.

Yi Wanjing, somewhat intimidated by the feisty Tang Li, decided to channel his frustration into scolding Su Cheng. He pointed at her and began to unleash a tirade.

Su Cheng was seething from being scolded, itching to retaliate, but her ingrained timidity held her back, so she merely gritted her teeth and endured it.

Meanwhile, Tang Li, casually brushing her teeth, observed the unfolding drama with an amused sense of satisfaction.

'Ah! It was shaping up to be quite a lively morning.'

After she finished brushing her teeth and washing her face, Tang Li strolled past Su Cheng, toothbrush in hand.

As she noticed the despondent look on Su Cheng's face, curiosity got the better of her, and she reached out to grasp Su Cheng's wrist to check if there was something wrong.

Her menstrual pulse is normal and strong, and her body is not cold. Su Cheng is in good health, and it is not difficult to conceive at all!

"Why are you grabbing me!"

Su Cheng was startled by the unexpected gesture, and she was about to pull away. However, Tang Li leaned in closer and whispered into her ear, "Hey, is your monthly cycle regular? Once a month?"

Baffled and livid Su Cheng asked, "Why are you asking this?"

"People say a woman's menstrual cycle can impact her chances of getting pregnant,"

Tang Li replied, releasing her grip on Su Cheng's wrist. She added, "If your cycle is normal, it might not be your fault if you can't conceive. Don't let him scold you every day. Why don't you go to the county hospital together and get checked? Find out who's got the issue."

Su Cheng's eyes lit up with hope as she asked, "Is that really true? Does having a regular cycle mean I'm not the one with fertility problems?"

"If you don't believe me, consult with Dr. Zhang at the clinic. Everything's probably fine with you. Older women understand these things more, if you want to take advice from your mother." Tang Li reassured her.

Unable to contain her excitement, Su Cheng rushed to Yi Wanjing, requesting that they take a day off and visit the county hospital for an examination.

Yi Wanjing, incensed by the suggestion, firmly opposed it.

Seeking medical help was a blow to his masculinity, and he couldn't bear the shame it would bring.

How can he raise his head in the village when this news gets out!

"You, you wicked wench! Listening to this madwoman's nonsense! Daring to accuse me of being unable to produce a son! I think you deserve a good beating!" Yi Wanjing, brandishing a broom in his fury, advanced towards Su Cheng.

Panicking, Su Cheng dodged the broom. She had endured his scolding before, but now that she had newfound hope that the issue might not be her fault, she could no longer tolerate it.

"Yi Wanjing! If you won't get checked, I'll go on my own. If there's nothing wrong with me, I won't stay with you!"

Su Cheng declared before storming back into the house. She planned to pack her things and head to her mother's house first, enlisting her elder brother to take her to the hospital.

Yi Wanjing couldn't bear the thought of Su Cheng leaving and was about to stop her.

However, at that moment, Father Yi rushed out of the house in a state of panic, calling out urgently, "Wanjing, your mother has a fever. She's delirious and can't get up. Come and see!"

Gu Xiulan, after Tang Li's dousing with cold water the previous night and her own extreme anger, had developed a fever during the night.

Since Father Yi slept ten meters away from her. He hadn't noticed her condition until the morning, when he realized that no one was waking up and so her fever had worsened.

"Why didn't you tell me my mother had a fever?" Yi Wanjing berated Father Yi as he entered the main room and felt Gu Xiulan's burning forehead.

Realizing her high temperature, he quickly ordered, "Get her ready, we need to take her to the infirmary immediately!"

"But she won't want to spend money to see a doctor. If we send her and they treat her, what if she doesn't pay the bill and then come to beat me up?"

Father Yi shrunk away, a look of distress on his face.....
