Chapter - 74 - Meeting the In-Laws

Tang Yu struggled to obediently hold back his emotions and choked up, but his wheezing breath still carried a hint of distress, accompanied by sharp whistles.

Tang Li closely monitored her younger brother's breathing, taking into account her previous knowledge from the original owner's memories. She suspected that Tang Yu was suffering from asthma.

Bending down, she was about to check his pulse when Tang Wei, her father, arrived from the field, his face a mix of worry and longing for her.

Upon seeing that her face wasn't marked with bruises, his expression darkened, and he inquired, "Li'er, what happened to your face? Did someone hit you?"

"Dad, it's not because I was beaten; I fell on my face. Minghuan has come back so I brought him over to meet you," Tang Li explained with a smile, straightening up and looking at her father.

Tang Wei, of medium height, with a sun-darkened complexion, rolled-up trouser legs, and a sweat towel draped over his shoulders, had the appearance of a typical farmer. His eyes showed no signs of cunning, only genuine concern for his daughter.

"Is he really the youngest child of the Yi family? His name is Minghuan?" Tang Wei eyed Yi Minghuan skeptically.

"Yes! he's our son-in-law. Look at how tall and handsome he is!" Lin Zhenya said, slapping her husband's arm with a grin, clearly pleased with Yi Minghuan. She was impressed by his demeanor, believing that their daughter had found a gem.

She was very satisfied with Yi Minghuan, she could tell from his words that he was a decent young man, so she felt that their daughter had found a treasure.

Yi Minghuan smiled and respectfully greeted Tang Wei, addressing him as "Dad."

"Alright, let's head home, have some water, and talk," Tang Wei suggested with a beaming smile.

He couldn't help but keep glancing at Yi Minghuan, his grin unwavering. Nervously rubbing his hands together, he ushered them home.

He took leave from the captain for his family and led them home. He introduced Yi Minghuan to everyone they encountered along the way, beaming with pride.

"This is my son-in-law, who's just returned from working in the army! Come and meet him!"

There was an unmistakable sense of satisfaction and pride in his voice!

On the other hand, Yi Minghuan felt somewhat uncomfortable and not used to the warm and heartfelt welcome he received at his in-law's house. Reflecting his own situation at home, his heart grew heavy.

"Look at how much my parents like you. They wish you were their son," Tang Li said to him, tugging at his sleeve and standing on her tiptoes to whisper in his ears.

She blinked her eyes playfully and comforted him, "The fact that my wicked mother-in-law doesn't like you can't be your fault. There are surely underlying reasons we don't know about."

Yi Minghuan glanced at her and knowing that she was comforting him again, he couldn't help showing a grateful smile to her.

Family had always been a sensitive subject for him, a wound that still bled and hurt from time to time.

No one had ever consoled him before, but after meeting her, she felt and understood his pain again and again. For the first time in his life he had someone who healed his scars and pain.

It's great to have her as a wife. He felt that having her as his wife was a blessing!

Lin Zhenya glanced back and saw her daughter and son-in-law bonding so closely, laughing and talking. Her heart surged with relief and joy.

Her daughter was living a good life, and the guilt that had plagued her day and night after marrying off her daughter could finally begin to dissipate.

Upon arriving home, Yi Minghuan noticed the parked bicycle, so he lifted the basket from the handlebars and carried it inside.

"Why did you buy so much as soon as you came? This must have cost a lot of money! What a waste!" Lin Zhenya said, looking at the items in the basket with concern.....
