The divine system: system profile and features, trial

Chapter 3

Joshua, the boy who had awakened as a Holy Paladin, felt an overwhelming sense of reverence toward Lucian. It was as though Lucian was a divine figure he was meant to follow.

"Why do I feel like I need to kneel before him? Is this the effect of his class?"

The principal, snapping out of his daze, quickly called for silence. His voice shook slightly, betraying his disbelief. "Lucian Cross, congratulations on your awakening. You may return to your seat… or if you wish, you can head home for the day. Please be sure to meet me in my office tomorrow."

Lucian nodded numbly, still processing everything that had happened. As he walked back to his seat, he noticed the way the entire hall stared at him. Their gazes were a mixture of fear, envy, and awe.

He sat down, his heart pounding. The day that had started like any other had just changed his life forever.

Joshua whispered to himself, "I need to talk to him… but not today. Today feels too overwhelming."

Lucian, still dazed, decided to head home. The whispers and stares followed him, but he barely noticed. His mind was consumed by the words of the Divine Guide System and the weight of his awakening.

Lucian decided to go home, his body weak and his mind overwhelmed from the events of the day. He grabbed his bicycle, the cool evening air brushing against his face as he pedaled toward home. His thoughts swirled in confusion and disbelief, the celestial phenomenon replaying over and over in his mind.

As soon as he entered his house, he went straight to his room, barely acknowledging the surroundings. Exhaustion weighed him down as he collapsed onto his bed and fell into a deep sleep.

In the dream, he found himself standing in an endless void of shimmering light and shadows. He had been here before. The same hauntingly familiar figure appeared, cloaked in radiant brilliance. This time, though, the figure's voice was clear and powerful:

"Take this new life and ability, and conquer the forces of the great darkness and deep. The system will guide you."

Lucian jolted awake, panting heavily, his heart racing. His room was dark except for the faint moonlight streaming through the window.

"What was that? Was all of this real?" he whispered, clutching his chest.

He glanced around the room as if expecting to see something. His mind raced back to the events of the day.

"Hello, glowing golden screen? Are you there?" he called hesitantly into the silence.

No response.

He sighed in relief, half-convinced that everything had been a vivid dream. "Maybe it wasn't real… but it all felt so real," he muttered to himself. "And that being… it mentioned a system…"

The moment he said the word system, a radiant golden screen materialized before his eyes, glowing softly in the dim room.

"Hello, host. You called?"

Lucian's jaw dropped. "What?! Who—what are you?" he stammered. "Why are you in my head?"

"Host, I am the Divine System," the screen responded, its voice calm and steady. "I was planted within you by a divine celestial being to guide you toward your ultimate destiny."

Lucian blinked, his thoughts scrambling to keep up. "Guide me? To what?"

"To godhood," the system replied simply. "I am bonded to you and will only be visible and audible to you. My purpose is to guide you on your path to the height of celestial kingship."

Lucian stared at the screen, trying to process its words. "Godhood? Why would I want to be a god? Wait… you said a celestial being planted you in me. Does that have anything to do with my dreams?"

The system responded after a brief pause. "Yes. The dreams the host experiences are fragments of divine memories. While I cannot provide a full explanation due to the divine restrictions, I can tell you this: as you grow, the memories will become clearer and you will understand their meaning."

Lucian sighed, his confusion only deepening. "Great. So now I have to deal with cryptic dreams too. But… fine. I'll go along with this for now. Show me your features, System."

"Understood, host. The system has been designed as an RPG-style guide to help you level up and grow stronger in a way familiar to your modern understanding. My ultimate purpose is to help you ascend to godhood and become a celestial king."

Lucian leaned forward, intrigued despite himself. "RPG-style, huh? Cool. Guess I finally have the power to shine. No more being trampled on. I'll reach greatness beyond anyone's imagination and become the God of Eternity!"

The words left his lips with fiery conviction, his fists clenched tightly.

Ding…

The system's voice rang out. "The host has made a Divine Pledge."

Lucian froze as a sudden warmth spread through his body, filling him with a surge of power.

**"The blessing of the God-King of Knights and Paladins has been activated. The following divine blessings have been unlocked for the host:

Divine Strength

Divine Courage

Divine Charisma

Divine Knowledge

Divine Pride

Divine Honor

Divine wrath

Divine Victory"**

The golden screen flashed once more.

"Title Unlocked: Son of the Divine."

Lucian's eyes widened in shock. "What… just happened?" he asked aloud, his voice trembling.

The pledge of the God-King of Knights and Paladins is a holy vow, a divine promise to conquer and dominate in the name of righteousness and order. It is also a sacred oath of allegiance to the celestial army, granting power to lead, protect, and prevail against darkness.

System: "Would the host like to see their profile?"

Lucian, still reeling from the revelation but curious, responded, "Yes."

Ding…

Faith Points and Divinity Explanation

Lucian frowned at the unfamiliar mechanics. "System, what are Faith Points, and why is my Divinity at 0?"

System: "Faith Points are a divine currency earned by:

1. Completing quests.

2. Defeating enemies/Monsters.

3. Performing acts of goodness or justice.

Faith Points can be used to unlock abilities, purchase items, or upgrade summons in the Divine Store.

Divinity represents the host's level of celestial influence and connection to higher divine powers. Currently, your Divinity is at 0% because your journey has just begun. Divinity increases as you gain Faith Points and progress in your celestial path."

Lucian stared at his profile again, his gaze locking onto the strange symbols in place of his race. "System, why is my race encrypted?"

System: "I cannot disclose the reason for the encryption. It will be revealed in time as the host progresses and fulfills certain conditions."

Lucian groaned. "You're way too mysterious for my liking, System."

Lucian crossed his arms and asked. "What does the title Son of the Divine mean?"

System: "The Son of the Divine is a Divine Rank title granted to one loved by the highest celestial entity, an existence beyond mortal comprehension. This title provides the following benefits:

1. Resistance to all forms of mind spells, illusions, or manipulations.

2. A 20% increase in leveling speed.

3. A 10% boost to any skill, ability, or summon used.

Lucian's eyes widened in disbelief. "Wait… so a divine entity loves me? That's… weird. It's just like my dream. Who is this entity?"

The system remained silent for a moment, then replied in its usual monotone. "I cannot answer that question."

Lucian sighed deeply, already anticipating the response. "Figures…"
