CHAPTER 15

Anesu Chuma (POV)

I opened my eyes groggily as I looked to my left with a frown on my face.

I hated it when I was forced to wake up in the morning just because I had to leave for work.

And it was even worse when I had slept late while drinking booze throughout the night.

However, as a man with duties, there was no way I would just remain sleeping, even when I was feeling sleepy the way I was.

Rising from the bed despite the sleepiness, my feet landed on the fur carpet, revealing the 1.78m man that I was.

Wearing my slippers so that I wouldn’t walk barefoot, I began to make my way towards the bathroom.

Since there were people to clean the room, there was no need for me to make the bed or anything. That was the greatest benefit of having money.

I reached the bathroom and started grooming myself. From taking a morning shower to shaving the beard.

After I shaved my beard, I couldn’t help but look at the plain gold wedding ring on my finger. It was a ring that had accompanied me for more than two decades and yet the more I looked at it, the funnier I found my situation to be.

I quickly finished grooming myself and several minutes later, I was all dressed up in my navy-blue suit.

When I was done, I took my briefcase with my belongings and left the bedroom with my head held high.

When I left the room, I couldn’t help but take a glance towards the door just opposite the bedroom and a smile blossomed on my face.

She should be awake and waiting for me in the dining room, right? I couldn’t help but wonder when I thought of her.

The only person who probably understood me more than I do myself. She was more of an angel and someone to whom I was very grateful towards to.

If it wasn’t for her, I don’t know where I would be right now. She was my guardian angel and something that I will never be embarrassed to talk about.

With my briefcase in hand, I began to make my way to the elevator, since I wasn’t in the mood to take the stairs. And on my way there, I met Helen, the maid in charge of the third floor.

“Good morning, sir!” Helen greeted me cordially and with familiarity.

I smiled at her as I returned her greeting. “Good morning to you too. Is my wife downstairs?” I asked, since I was curious about her.

Helen flashed a smile as she responded to me, “Yes, but she is about to finish her breakfast. It seemed that she was in a hurry today.”

Upon hearing that, I raised my brows in wonder. What was so urgent?

Looking back to Helen, who was busy considering that she needed to clean the bedrooms and everything, I nodded at her in a dismissal manner before walking away.

Moments later, I arrived in the dining room and heaved a sigh of relief upon seeing my beautiful wife sitting at the table enjoying her cup of coffee while she read a copy of Daily News on the other side.

Unlike other women who hated newspapers, my wife was unique. In fact, she had been like that even when we met in our twenties. The things that she loved doing, there weren’t a lot of women who were interested in that.

She was more competitive and capable than me. I don’t want to lie. Sometimes it sucks, but what else can I do when she was more talented than me in that area?

Entering the dining room, a smile blossomed on my face as I made my way towards the table.

Hearing someone approaching, my wife suddenly raised her head and looked at me.

Her eyes didn’t contain any sweet affection like what most infatuated wives carried for their husbands. But they held this familiar vibe I have known for two decades and a vibe that I would prefer over any kind of emotion.

A smile suddenly appeared on her face as she placed the cup of coffee on that table.

“You are early!” she said teasingly as she looked at me.

I chuckled upon hearing her teasing as I sat down opposite her. “What more can I do? I have a morning meeting today!” I answered her.

She raised her brows as she looked at me amusingly and laughingly asked, “If you knew that, why would you drink so much?”

“I couldn’t help it. You know the boys!” I shrugged as I answered back.

She looked at me with a smile but didn’t say a thing. Instead, she picked another piece of bread and began to munch on it.

Seeing that she was back to eating, I turned to check the kitchen where I found Sarah, the other maid, already carrying the tray of food to where I was.

With the both of us minding our table manners as we ate, the food was quickly digested.

I thought that my wife would leave first since I heard from Helen that she had something to do, but who would have thought that she would wait for me instead?

After breakfast, my wife, who was beautifully dressed in a red suit, walked out first with a black handbag in hand and the tapping sound of the heels sounded on the marble tiles.

We both went outside where we headed towards the garage where the cars were parked.

Since we both worked in different places, it was unavoidable that we wouldn’t be using the same car.

My wife was more of a showoff and she loved expensive things. If she wasn’t a rich lady herself and wasn’t hard-working, she would have probably become a gold digger.

But luckily, she wasn’t like that.

I walked towards my Audi Q5 with ease. A new SUV I recently purchased over a month ago. Although it was expensive, it was very worth it. However, when I looked at the Levante, my wife was taking to work, I couldn’t help but feel a bit inferior.

She was really just something else.

“Alisha!’ I suddenly called out to her as she placed her bag in the backseat.

Alisha turned around to look at me with query all over her face and asked, “mm, what is it?”

Smiling at her as I found her expression very cute, I said to her, “Take care of yourself and be good!”

Hearing my words, she smiled at me as she waved her hand. “You better follow your words. You are the one always causing trouble and not me!” with a laugh.

“Hehe, I can’t help it!” I said, as I got ready.

“Fine, fine. Just be careful and don’t forget that we have a dinner date tonight!” Alisha suddenly reminded me.

Upon hearing that, I gawked at her, obviously shocked by what she had just said.

Seeing my reaction, Alisha face palmed before glaringly asking me, “Don’t tell me you have forgotten?”
