Mei Xing finished the last email with a satisfied click. Her gaze flicked to the clock– 3:45 pm. Half an hour until she met with Yang Longwen and her lawyer, Mr Han.

Her heart hammered a nervous rhythm against her ribs as she reached for her bag. Today, she might finally get some relief.

Hailing a cab, she read out the address Yang Longwen had provided to the driver, a knot of nervous anticipation twisting in her stomach.

Anticipation, laced with a sliver of trepidation, coiled in her stomach. What information had Yang Longwen unearthed? Would it be enough to finally turn the tide in her favour?

The cab pulled to a stop in front of a massive, gleaming, multi-storied mall– not exactly the venue she had envisioned for such a crucial meeting.

Furrowing her brow, she paid the fare and stepped onto the bustling sidewalk. "Why a mall?" she muttered under her breath.
