A hard decision

"Help us. Help my sister please." Elena managed to get out of the car, she only had a bleeding lip and some bruises, her sister was unconscious. She was groaning in pain. Elena didn't even care about her lip. She wiped it off and tried to her sister, she removed the seatbelt, but she had a hard time trying to help her out.

"Help, can- can anyone help me?" She cried as she went out, she could barely breathe, all she had on her mind was her sister. She kept on waving to the taxis, she felt dizzy and tired. Her head kept spinning, and her legs were heavy. She was in her jumpsuit, so she didn't care, all she cared for was her sister.

"Help!" She cried out again, the cars around had stopped to help, some called an ambulance, and it was on its way. They all came around to help her sister and the driver, as soon as her sister was out. She held her in her arms while she was on the floor, she waited for the ambulance. "What about him?" They were all about to help the driver who was stuck.

"Yes, he suddenly fainted." Elena said as she was waiting for her sister to wake up. She cared for the driver. "The ambulance is here." As soon as she heard that, the nurses came down to help her and her sister, she rushed and followed them, her heel broke off and she fell. "You have to be careful, miss."

The male nurse helped her up and assisted her to the back of the ambulance. "We will help the driver, and you can ride with your sister." The other nurse said as they gave her sister an oxygen mask. Just as the driver was moved from the car, a louder bang was heard.

The car blew up. Elena was shocked and had goosebumps all over her. "Will she be fine?" She watched as her sister stood there lifeless and without hope. It was the hardest thing for her to see and watch after her parent's death.

She could do deliveries under any kind of weather but this? This was her limit. The nurses tried to nurse her wounds and give her some aspirin since she had a mild injury, but she refused. She wasn't interested. She didn't want that.

As soon as they got to the hospital, her sister was moved on a stretcher and was rushed to the emergency room. Elena stood outside and waited all she had on her was that her sister would be alive and fine.

She panted and walked outside the hospital room. She was filled with blood, she didn't even realize, she tried to pray but instead all she did was cry and cry.

A nurse came out, and she asked, "how is she?" She held onto the nurse with her bloody hands, her eyes cried out pity and hope. "The doctor will see you now. Let me take you to his office." The nurse said in a calm tone.

She could sense that Elena was two bad news away from collapsing. Elena didn't have anything slipper on, she walked barefooted, she looked like she needed medical attention herself.

Elena did as she was told. She followed the nurse to the doctor's office. She was given a rag to clean her hands with. As soon as she entered the doctor's office, the doctor noticed and the nurse signaled.

"Take care of her while I tell her the news." The doctor made it necessary for Elena to be bandaged and for her lip to stop bleeding. Even her legs had scratches.

"I am sorry for your sister, but she had a concussion, one of her ribs was broken, and it pierced into her bloodstream. We need to do surgeries, for her ribs and her head. We need to stitch her up and watch her while she heals, hopefully it doesn't lead to a coma. "Elena gulped as the doctor gave the verdict, her eyes turned and all she heard was the repeat of what the doctor said.

To her, It meant money, loads and loads and the fact that she could lose her sister, she was losing concentration and consciousness, she could only see the bill and the fact that she might hurt her sister, she wanted death to take her, she wanted to be in her sister's position instead of her.

She was given the cost of the bill and when she saw it, she closed her eyes. She didn't know how she would pay this or what she would do. "Are you listening?" The nurse asked, she stood up and nodded. "Thank you doctor." She said as she staggered and walked out of the hospital. She went back home.

She used a taxi, she took off her clothes, she managed and poured water on her body. She cleaned herself and wiped her tears, she rode her scooter and went to her boss. She was ready to sell her soul for her sister and do whatever it took.

"Good evening ma. I need your-your help." She rubbed her hands and she practiced what she would say to her boss. "Elena? I thought you were out with your sister. Is it over already? It's just past ten." Her boss said as she walked in, she was in a short skirt, and a tan top. She sells her looks for more customers and attention too.

As soon as her boss sat down and spotted her. "Oh my goodness, your face? What happened to you?" She asked how she could see the band-aids and how little her eyes were, it looked like she was hit with a bat and beaten.

"We had an accident and she needs surgery. I am begging. Can I get a year advance payment? That would be three thousand and five hundred dollars, I would work extra hours and find other jobs to survive, I don't want her to die. Please." She pleaded to her boss who felt like slapping her.

"Am I running a daycare center here? Or are things being given out for free? If you need a loan? Go to the bank! Are you out of your mind? If you want a dollar added to your money? If you want? Three hundred and one dollar? You might as well be the cleaner.

I am sorry for your sister, but you need to find something else? Sell your body or find some other job? I- I can't help you." Her boss stood up and walked out on her. "Pass the back door please, don't let the people think the pizza sauce is some blood." She spat as she closed her door.

It dawned on her that she was hopeless, and she had nowhere to go. She cleaned her eyes and left the office. She was on her bike. She has already concluded that she would either cut her hair to make some money, sell some of the things at home and maybe work overtime.

She was with her purse and she had five hundred dollars in it. Cash. She was going to the hospital to pay that down payment and have her sister be worked on. "I will make sure that you are fine." She said as she passed a shortcut to the hospital, it was dark and lonely.

"Maybe I shouldn't pass here." She felt odd and strange as she was passing the dark alley, as she turned? She was stopped by a car. Her eyes widened, and she got scared, her hands started shaking, and she didn't know what else to do.

"Hey pretty girl, what are you doing here alone?" One of the three men that stood in front of her asked, they were armed and huge. Their eyes were bloodshot red, and they all smelt like wet clothes and cigarettes. She gulped as she knelt down immediately. "I am going to the hospital for my sister." She said as they all surrounded her.

"Oh so, you have money." One of the men knelt down to her and yanked her hair. "Yes, yes I have." She said out of fear. He placed a gun to her neck. She acted smart and handed over the purse to them. "She can be spared." One of the men said, and she was relieved of the gun placement. "You look good for the night." The other guy said and just as he was about to lift her up.

Someone showed up. "Let her go now." The man yelled out and shot his gun into the air. The guns that the robbers had were fake and they left immediately with her money. "Hey are you okay?" The man asked as he assisted her up. "It was- a fake gun?" She muttered and he heard her.

"Come, stand up. Are you okay?" He asked again but this time she wasn't herself. She needed to rest. "Let's go to my car." He said as he assisted her.

As soon as they got to the car, he gave her a burger, she ate it all and explained the whole night to him.

"My name is Paul and I run a strip club? You can be a waiter or a stripper? The tips will pay those bills in a week." He said to her and she didn't care. "I will be a waiter." She said in a weak tone, she wanted her sister safe and sound, she wouldn't mind waiting tables. "You are hired."
