Chapter 6

I got exhausted from chasing her around the room and lay down on the bed, staring at the ceiling. Elle and Aurora also lay back and gazed at the ceiling.

Different thoughts were running through our minds. I wasn't trying to enter their heads. As werewolves, we can hear each other's thoughts; there was nothing like privacy. One of the only things I enjoyed as the park's princess was that nobody could read my mind. It was my only safe place from people's piercing eyes.

I turned over and looked at Aurora; she turned at the same time, and our eyes locked. She knew that I was reading her mind. She was thinking about me, how she would have been the happiest person here if I were the one getting married today. I didn't want people to feel pity for me, so I shut out their thoughts and focused on mine.

I broke the gaze and continued staring at the ceiling, still feeling her eyes on me.

"Stacccy!" I heard someone shout out my name.

I knew without a soothsayer that my mom was the one calling. She is the only person who stresses my name when calling.

"Yes, mom!" I answered and made to get up when she walked in. "My paws!!" She exclaimed and held her chest. "Elle, you're not dressed yet. The groom's family is already on their way."

"The wedding!!" Aurora and I screamed in unison.

We all scampered in different directions, trying to put things in order to start getting her dressed. We all had been so engrossed in our thoughts that we lost track of time. Thankfully, she had already had her bath, so it's just the makeup and the dress.

Elle was smiling; everything was amusing to her. From time to time, I'd smile back at her and then go back to helping out with her hair while Aurora did her makeup. We put in our best to make her look exceptional. After all, the second princess of the Bloodmoon Park has found her mate.

"Wow wow! Elle!!" Aurora squealed. "You look beautiful. Absolutely gorgeous." She was smiling deeply, and I finally took note of the dimples that serenaded her face. Aurora was the werewolf I've seen and heard of that has a dimple. I guess that's what makes her different.

Truly, my little sister looked like a beautiful princess. I took a deep breath as I bent to kiss her cheek.

"Elle, you're the most beautiful bride ever," I said with teary eyes.

"Thank you, Stacy. You'd make a beautiful bride as well," Elle replied, beaming with smiles.

Elle has always been the optimistic and vibrant sister, our parents' favorite, and the clan's sweet princess. I love that for her. I felt different, no, incomplete! Incomplete is the best description of how I feel here.

"I hope we won't have a full moon today," Aurora chipped in and smirked at me.

"A!! You're mischievous," I said and held my mouth to stop myself from smiling. Elle seemed lost, as I had expected.

Aurora wedded on a full moon night, so she believed that was why she had the best sex. She shared it with me, and ever since then, she will always tease me about getting married on a full moon. Elle wasn't aware of this, so it was obvious why she seemed lost.

"Come on, Stacy. The wedding is about to start," I heard my mom shout from outside.

"Come on, guys, let's hurry up," I said, getting up.

Aurora and I helped Elle fit into her dress, and boy, was she looking perfect? When we were done, we assisted her as she walked slowly outside to meet my mom.

My mom rushed and kissed Elle on the lips as soon as she saw us. Her slender fingers ran through Elle's face. "Elle, baby, you look so beautiful," my mom said, sniffing in an attempt to hold back her tears.

"Mom, you're going to make me cry and ruin my makeup," Elle said and pulled my mom in for a hug.

I hugged them as well, and we headed to the park where the wedding ceremony would take place.

We arrived at the square; members of the different clans were already seated. The groom would march in first, while the bride would be escorted by her dad. In our case, I would be the one to walk my sister down the aisle.

The wedding procession began. The groom, Mike, as handsome as he was, walked down the aisle slowly. When he reached the podium, he stood there and waited for my sister.

The song started, our hands intertwined, we slowly made our way down the aisle. I felt the attention wasn't on Elle; everyone was looking at me with questioning eyes. When would she be getting married?

I could hear their thoughts clearly. "Look at her trying to steal her sister's shine." I turned to the direction I heard that from; everyone there was facing the podium.

"Why is she so slow? She even took time to transform into a wolf, and now she's taking even longer to find a mate," I heard someone else say. Tears were starting to well up as I tried to maintain my composure.

"I heard she said her mate is a human, how funny." That was all it took for me to break loose. I let go of my sister's hand and ran out, not without hearing someone else add, "She always likes to make things about her."

I ran out of the park, tears sliding down my cheeks, my clothes tearing, and my bones snapping. I kept running until I transformed. I didn't stop running; I wanted to get far away from here. Far away from their thoughts.

Even in white fur, it didn't get stained as I kept running. It took me a while to transform, but when I did, I got a very elegant color. White!

I started to slow my pace, still whimpering. Regret was coursing through my body for leaving my sister's wedding that way. I would apologize to her when I got home.

I stood still for a moment until I felt a deep connection drawing me to the entrance of the forest. Suddenly, I felt an overwhelming sense of sadness, as if I had lost someone dear to me.

I followed the pull, running slowly to ensure I was on the right track. I reached the middle of the woods, where the moon was shining brightly. I could see a male silhouette. I just wanted to comfort him.

I felt a very strong connection to him; was this what mates feel for each other? I questioned myself as the feeling persisted. I tried to take in his scent, but I was confused.

I wanted to get closer to him to understand exactly what he was. I followed him; he seemed to know he was being followed because he increased his pace. I had to run to stand before him.

He didn't look surprised; rather, he looked at me expectantly. I took advantage of the closeness and circled him to sniff him out.

He smelled like a human and a werewolf as well. Impossible! He couldn't be a mix. It wasn't possible; it had never happened before. I was trying to compose myself when I sensed another person. This one was completely human.

I ran and hid within the woods.

"Damien?" I heard the human say.

So his name is Damien. I thought to myself. With that, I sped off. I didn't wait to observe his facial features. I had a wedding to return to.
