Chapter 10 : Unexpected

Erik’s POV

I didn’t know what to expect when I signed up for the fights.

Sure, the brawl was a great way to blow off some steam. At least Aldermor had that going for it. And the contenders weren’t too shabby either. My opponent threw some wild hits, taking me off guard in the best way.

I was rarely surprised, so when it happened, I found it very satisfying. Plus the fights were also relatively low-stakes. The big money was for the higher-league gladiatorial fights, not the pit fighting I was partaking in.

I could see myself coming back every week, fighting under an alias. The closest place I could get to home. It reminded me of the spars outside of the dining hall. Anders liked to play bookie even though he was big enough to take anyone on.

He had the muscle, but not the skill.

Bjorn was the baby, so he had the vigor, but not the experience.
