“I am giving you this gift,” the Moon said, glancing between the both of us, her voice almost a stern warning. “But it comes with a condition, and if you violate it, then the gift will vanish.”


Varon and I both said nothing, only listening to her intently.


I couldn’t believe that this was real. I had never heard of something like this happening before. But here he was, standing in front of me. The Alpha of the Rising Moon.


“Speak nothing of your shared betrayal,” she said gently. “This is not the place for pain, only healing. And to heal, pain must often first come, but this is not the place or moment. You have precious time with each other, and a precious cub that grows that needs the both of you to flourish. Spend this time wisely to strengthen your cub. Only that.”
