Chapter 33: Road Trips
*Mia*
“Did you go on a lot of road trips growing up?”
I pursed my lips as I pondered Jack’s question.
I was both surprised and relieved when he told me I could come with him on his trip to meet with the snitch in New Jersey. I wasn’t sure I wouldn’t spend the whole couple of days he would have gone sick with worry.
“Dad and I did a couple of road trips,” I said. Then I laughed fondly. “He didn’t have the most patience for things like traffic and stupid drivers, so he preferred to fly when we went on trips.”
Jack hummed thoughtfully, popping a potato chip into his mouth. He chewed slowly. “Where did you go when you did go on road trips?”
“Our last trip was to Florida when I was fourteen,” I said.
Jack took his eyes off the road for a brief second to widen them at me. “You drove all the way to Florida? Isn’t that a twenty-hour drive, or something?”
