Chapter Eighteen

A little past midnight, in his room, Lucifer fell down onto the bed and buried his head on the pillow.

"Haa... it is only at times like this do I ever feel tired. Maybe its because of these bitches around me"

Inside his room, there were many pots filled with poisonous plants.

While their poison would only be lethal if one ingested it, the sheer amount of them being in an enclosed space has turned the air slightly poisonous.

With a deep breath, Lucifer stood up and opened the window, letting in the cool breeze of the night.

With so many things ahead of me, building up resistance against poison will be beneficial for me since I can keep using this alias of mine. If only I had the power to change my looks or the power to hypnotize instead of the power to see other's power, things would have been much easier...

After taking in the air of the night under the illuminance of the moonlight, Lucifer closed the windows and headed to bed.

...

Quarter to six in the morning, Lucifer and Paimon set off with a cross and shovel on hand as they headed for a small hill located southward from the city, approximately an hour away by carriage.

"Aaah~"

Paimon yawned as he rubbed his eyes, constantly looking left and right through window of the carriage.

"Mas... Senior brother, why am I going to dig?"

"Because I said so"

Knowing how generous and benevolent Lucifer was, it was unlikely for him to order Paimon to dig his own grave on a small hill but Paimon could not help but feel uneasy at the thought of it.

As his imagination run wild, him thinking being buried alive six feet under while inside some metallic coffin, they arrived at their destination.

"Here is the payment. It will only take us about half an hour. I hope you can wait" Lucifer handed the carriage driver one hundred and fifty Elbas worth of coins.

"No problem, good Sir"

The carriage driver had no problem with him waiting after being paid a large amount just to wait for them for half an hour.

As to what they were going to do, he could not care any less about it. After all, not even psychopaths would brazenly burry a corpse in broad daylight near the city.

"I brought water. Feel free to drink in between of your work"

"Understood"

Under the warm sunlight that embraced the surface of the land, Paimon started shoveling after removing his shirt.

After twenty minutes, Paimon was done shoveling the ground, burying a ceramic jar, and placing the wooden cross above it, he let his body fall down and leaned on the tree that was conveniently nearby as he catches his breath.

"Here you go"

Lucifer handed him the water sac which he took which joy.

"Senior brother, is this someone's grave?"

"Yes. A dear friend of mine. While I do not have her ashes, I still want to build one for her"

Sensing the melancholic tone in his words, Paimon tensed up.

"Was she important to you?"

Ack! Of course she would be! Master wouldn't be bringing me here to make a grave if she wasn't! Paimon cursed himself after voicing out his thoughts.

Before he could explain what he just asked, Lucifer answered;

"Yes. She taught me many things. How to live. How to laugh. How to socialize. How to get away from trouble. How to be flexible at times. And much, much more"

Lucifer, rather, Elizabeth begun to remember the vivid memories of her dear friend, Veronica, who was the one who showed her the colors of life starting at her high school years.

"I was a loner back then. Had I kept on mindlessly studying everyday, I would have achieved much more but would have lost my humanity and life. It was thanks to her that I experienced such wonders"

As Veronica would drag Elizabeth everyday somewhere, Elizabeth learned how to play instruments, buying sweets and street foods along the way to the school, dolling herself up when going to the mall, and listen to music that would make her heart pace on the same beat.

"After being introduced to such a life, I could hardly care about my grades anymore. I have lived too simply to see the little things that could make me feel alive"

In her mind, Veronica's lifeless body inside a white coffin, her hands holding a bouquet of marigold that seemed to accentuate her lively and cheerful vibe flashed as if she was seeing it in front of her.

"We make mistakes then seek help; Live to make more and then seek salvation only to commit sins"

"My advice for you is to do the things you want to do before it is too late. Regret can make you question reality, to the point of losing your sanity"

Silence remained between the two until Lucifer stood up after adjusting the wooden cross.

"Let's go back. I am sure Baal is having a hard time taking care of all the customers"

"....."

Paimon followed without a word as he could feel the sadness behind Lucifer's words.

...

After getting back, Paimon was fully recovered and immediately help with the customers in the apothecary along with Lucifer.

"You should exercise some more, teacher. Otherwise, you won't be able to travel to see the wonders of the city" Lucifer said in a half mocking and half teasingly tone.

Baal who was resting on his chair replied with a smile, "I am done adjusting here so I might start doing it tomorrow or the day after"

Seeing this, the people inside the apothecary begun to assume the close relationship between the teacher and the student base on their conversation.

An hour later, the products being sold were sold out.

"I guess we will have to make more to restock for tomorrow"

"Senior..."

"Hmm? What is it?"

Paimon placed the tray filled with empty glass jars on top and asked hesitantly, "The balm oil you taught us... why aren't we selling that?"

Lucifer and Baal looked at each other before looking back at Paimon.

"Kid, if we were to show everyone the best we have, it will be hard for us to further improve our image. However, if we started with something better compared to what is known in the market but is inferior to what we possess, we will be able to control the flow of demand"

"The better products that will be introduced in the future can be either a luxury one or a premium one after the name of the shop spread, this will raise the value of the brand of our shop as well as our credibility. Baiting big fish this way always works, of course, that is if you have the means to do so"

Baal explained in a calm manner, indicating that Lucifer still had more he has yet to show.

Paimon nodded in enlightenment as he looked down.

"If you want to get rich, I advice you to learn more about business. Either learn by watching us or by reading some books. Or even both"

Lucifer said while holding back his laughter as he went down to the basement.

Baal on the other hand was confuse as he saw Paimon feeling embarrassed base on his expression thinking that there was nothing to be embarrassed about wanting to have money.

Several days later, a letter arrived from 'Ladies' haven'.
