Chapter 3- Richard’s pov

Years. I have been trying to find my mate for 12 years now. I was tired and bored from all the stress and searching. You'd think I had everything under my control since I was the alpha and got everything I wanted.

At first, I was searching with my best friend Matt the beta of my pack but he found his mate 3 years ago. Now, his mate just put to bed and I'm still here with no mate.

My mind was amok with thoughts as I prepared to go visit Matt after the news got to me.

Then there was a knock on my door, dragging me out of my thoughts. I rolled my eyes wondering who it was. Before I could open my mouth to respond the door swung open.

"Are you throwing a party in search of your mate?" My girlfriend Lisa asked.

Lisa and I met the same year Matt found his mate. I was so drawn and attracted to her, we even have a lot of things in common but the moment I met her I knew she wasn't my mate.

"Yes, I have to. Lately, I can't concentrate on anything. It feels like I should give it one last try."

"Okay. We should go together." I noticed a slight change in her mood. She always wanted me to ignore my mate search and make her my Luna but my wolf wouldn't accept her fully.

Her mate died in the war with our rival pack, so she had nothing to worry about. I would love to make her my Luna as she fits all the qualities and descriptions.

Lisa was so beautiful with long hair, with the color dark blonde, with skin so white she looked like a doll, beautiful and delicate. She stole my heart the instant I saw her, she got me and understood me in ways no one has ever done. She was the only one able to hack my soft side.

That night, I walked into the big room filled with people, my guests, and members of my pack. They all bowed in respect to me as I entered with Lisa in my arms.

I sat down with my glass of wine looking around but nothing interested me. Lisa left to talk to some chums and I was left with my thoughts. I just wanted to find her and carry out my plans to get rid of her.

"You are bored." Matt chuckled, dragging me out of my thoughts.

"Huh," I rubbed my neck in frustration. Then I turned towards him, he signaled the servant to get him a drink. "Well, I can't wait to get this over and done with," I said.

"Yeah and when that happens what about Lisa?"

"I don't know," I replied trying to wave the topic. I couldn't tell him about my plans because I would want him to see me a lot differently than he already does. I mean… everyone sees me as ruthless but this plan was so intense and maybe unnecessary.

"And why are you here? Aren't you supposed to be with your baby?"

"Yes," he answered with a slight smile on his lips. Then continued, "But I wanted to check in with you and see how things are going."

"As you can see, for now, nothing," I said and raised my hands.

"Alright. I'll take my leave now." He said as he took the last gulp of his drink and walked out.

It was almost midnight, and the dancers already performed, all sorts of entertainment were almost accomplished, and yet no sign of 'my mate.'

"I think we should leave. Your mate is probably as dead as mine." her voice was unnecessarily harsh but I hoped that was the case. So I didn't say a word, just smirked.

On our way out, my whole body froze as my breath left my lungs in a spurt.

"What is —" I tried to talk but there was really nothing to say on this verge, my body just wanted to pay attention to the reason for the sudden effect. I released Lisa from my arms and stood expressionless.

My gaze landed on a woman I had never seen before, I couldn't see her well from my position but what I saw I liked— we liked. It seemed she was walking toward me too and I just kept staring, my Wolf was so excited.

There was something about her, this aura that stole my attention, I couldn't help it even though I tried to.

"Who is this" I asked myself. My Wolf replied "mate." I rolled my eyes. Just then she got closer to me, almost like she was being pushed by an invisible force.

She was staring at me a little too much and her friend I guess, hit her to bring her back to earth.

"Who are you?" I asked her. But she looked almost lifeless and refused to respond.

"What's your name?" I asked again just in case she didn't get me the first time but instead of a response, she took flight.

I was so surprised, I didn't think I looked that scary to make people run. I was determined to keep her nonetheless, so I followed her without her knowledge.
