Troublemaker

And try she did. In fact, she put in much more effort than she had put in Lance.

Previously, when she tried to recruit Lance, she was holding back because deep down she knew It wasn't possible, after all, he was a noble by birth and had responsibilities

But with Ember and Asher, she saw a real opportunity. She taught them the political situation of the kingdom and some of the doctrine of faith for the octagon Church.

She pulled all the stops, but they maintained an uncertainty that made the priestess frustrated yet hopeful. At least they didn't say no, outrightly like Lance.

,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

One a particular night on the Naldir family dinning table

Lance and his family members sat around having their food. They would usually eat together at night every weekend to generally interact. Lance was always busy with training and Escanor too was busy with his own matters, so Laura thought it wise to create this tradition.

"So you've taken a liking to Ember and Asher?" Lance's father, Escanor said to Arian.

"Yes, they are very talented, and I had a revelation that their destiny gravitates to the church"

Arian replied, even though she was still hopeful, she couldn't pretend as if all was alright. She had tried very hard but they had refused all her advances, no matter how hard she tried.

It was getting tiring, and she had no choice but to speak to their parents, but even for this, she required the permission of Lance's parents.

"Ha? Well, as long as they agree to go with you, then you may take them….."

Lance's father didn't want to ruin the chances of Ember and Asher creating a legacy for themselves. If joining the church was what they wanted, he would permit it.

Arian nodded, naturally this meant she could go ahead to meet with their parents. As long as she was able to convince them, it would be a step in the right direction.

"Cough cough!"

Lance coughed involuntarily, attracting the attention of everyone in the room. For a few seconds he felt like slapping himself, this really had nothing to do with him and he didn't want attention.

"What about Lance, how has his magic training going lately?"

Laura, Lance's mom, asked the priestess. They were paying her to teach their son, not his friends, though they didn't mind as long as Lance was ahead.

"There's room for improvement…."

Arian gave a casual remark, she hadn't given Lance the time of day for a while, so she could only say so much about his progress.

"Hmmm I hope you understand that you can trust me…"

Lance's mother egged Arian on, clearly she believed that she was hiding something.

"The only problem is, he's not serious about his training. I believe because he knows that he will eventually inherit his father's estate, he's a bit lazy."

Arian finally gave in and let out her grievances. In truth, she actually believed that this was the case, though it wasn't backed by any solid evidence, she believed it to be true.

If not, why would he pass up the chance to join the church? If he were truly looking for power, he would go to the most powerful place, regardless of loyalty.

At least those were her thoughts on the matter.

"Lance, is that true?"

For the first time, Lance's father spoke to him in a tone that showed clear annoyance. For the most part of his life here, the father was quite agreeable with what Lance wanted.

But now? There was clear doubt in his tone. He seemed like he was annoyed.

"I…."

Lance was about to defend himself, but for some reason he couldn't find the words. This was the first time he had felt like this before. In his previous life, his dad died before he was born, so there was no way for him to understand what this was...

Disappointment

The feeling when a father figure shows clear distaste towards a child they once adored.

HOWEVER, Lance was no child. he was a full grown man in a child's body, he didn't feel this pain, no, what was in his mind right now was pure anger and malice. all towards the stupid Priestess and Escanor.

"Upstairs now!"

Escanor slammed the table as he noticed lance looking at the priestess with anger, then he proceeded to stand up and walk towards the stairs. The look on his face was horrid.

The feeling he was having was on the same line of reasoning as Lance but from different points of views.

Lance was Angry because the attitude of the Escanor changed from being nice to harsh overnight.

But as for Escanor? He felt like he had been too soft on Lance, he felt like his leniency was making him spoiled.

"Hmm"

Lance stood up and looked over at the priestess, his eyes filled with hate and malice. He didn't see any reason for her to lie against him.

But she did just that, Lance was certain that she was gloating in her mind

"Just wait…"

Lance left those two words before walking up the stairs. There was a debt to be paid and he would get it in full.

Meanwhile, the priestess too was in a state of bewilderment, the words that left Lance's mouth were laughable at best. He definitely couldn't win against her in a fight, so what was the point of that show?

Her, a high-level mage and a priestess from the octagon Church, could she be afraid of this kid who was still wet behind the ear?

Later that night, words filled with unadulterated anger flew from the room upstairs, making everyone worried

Especially Lance's mom, she had tried to stop Escanor but to no avail. She couldn't do anything. She had indirectly caused this, she only wanted to do what was right for her child.

"Sigh"

Laura looked over at the nonchalant Arian as she sat there taking in a spoon full of soup. She acted like Whatever was happening up the stairs was not her problem, this of course annoyed Laura. call it a mothers instinct, but she sensed something was wrong.

However she had no evidence and didn't know that all that was happening was because of the priestess's loose mouth and envious mind
