Duan city

"Kwaaa"

An Eagle dove over an Alduwin carriage, revealing a stunning city in front of it. This city had massive walls and was surrounded by luscious vegetation and streams.

"That's Duan city"

From inside the carriage inscribed with the Alduwin insignia, Lance stuck his head outside and marveled at the Magnificence of the city in front of him

He was from the 21st century and had seen buildings going up into the sky, so he was no stranger to tall buildings. However, the feeling Duan city gave was quite unique, it gave off the Western medieval vibe that Lance had never experienced before. The walls were sky-high and made from high-quality stones and blocks, making it look smooth and extravagant.

He grew up relatively poor and was never given the chance to explore the earth in its fullest. That was one of his regrets before dying, but now he has been reincarnated and was determined to see everything this world has to offer.

"Stop"

Upon approaching the massive Gate to Duan city, a guard appeared before the gate and ordered for the carriage to stop moving. This guard had a skinny build and simple black amour around his chest.

"Pay the toll"

The guard lifted the front plate of his helmet and barked at the carriage rider. He was asking for a bribe. However, he was met with silence for a while. On the carriage rider's face was a look of total disgust.

"Hmp!! Pay the toll, or we will confiscate your carriage for transporting illegal substances!!"

The guard didn't care what the carriage rider thought of him. He was a city guard of Duan city, and he had all the power here, and if the carriage rider wanted to prove stubborn, he would teach him a lesson.

Whip!!!

As the city guard was making his threats, a long whip swung from the back of the carriage and wrapped around his neck, causing him to instinctively struggle.

From the back of the carriage, a young man with black armor held on to the whip that was wrapped around the city guard's neck. This person was a guard of the Naldir family.

"Put down your weapon!!!"

Almost immediately, the guards on the city wall pulled out their bows and arrows and aimed it at the carriage. How dare they attack a city guard in front of the main gate? They were seeking death.

"Stay your arrows!!!"

Just as they pointed their arrows at the carriage, a host of Nadir family guards rode to the side of the carriage and halted their next move.

"Do you not see the alduwin crest? Or do you look down on the alduwin faction?!!"

The guard, at the forefront, slowly rode forward and spoke. The look on his face was unsightly, it was more than just anger, it also contained a trance of contempt.

"Hm? Alduwin? Never heard of it!!"

One of the guards on the wall barked, what Alduwin faction? They were the city guards of Duan city, they didn't need to fear any faction.

Of course, the reason for his reaction was because he was still wet behind the ears. He joined the city guard not too long ago and was fortunate to be placed on the city walls, naturally he was proud. However, he didn't know to what extent the faction's powers really went to.

"Open the gates!!!"

From the side, a guard of a higher rank commanded. He was not inexperienced like the rest and knew his boundaries.

Inside the carriage.

"What was that about?"

Lance furrowed his brows as he watched the carriage make its way through the city gates. They had stopped them to demand for a gate fee, Lance could understand that, but why did Wilder refuse to pay?

"Duan city guards are corrupt, if we weren't nobles they would have extorted us..."

Wilder went on to explain that there was no such thing as a toll fee to enter the city. The guards were just trying to extort unsuspecting travelers. This made Lance think that he needed to stay away from them.

Guards that could take advantage of ordinary people could also take bribes to cause harm.

"Maybe I can use that to my advantage ?"

While Lance was contemplating and planning his future schemes, the carriage came to an abrupt halt in the middle of the street.

" This is where we will rendezvous kid"

Wilder explained to lance. He had things to do, he had to get a top grade physician to treat Laura's injuries, and there was the matter of Lance wanting to enter an Academy.

For that, he needed to meet with some powerful friends, else it wouldn't work and Lance would have come here for nothing.

"Hm!!"

Lance nodded, he understood that he couldn't follow wilder everywhere, he was a grown man after all, and the people he will be meeting were probably of very high standing. Bringing someone they didn't know would be somewhat offensive.

"It's still your birthday though, so have fun"

As these words left Wilder's mouth, a bag full of coins flew in the air and landed in Lance's hands. Wilder had been waiting for Lance to clock 18 for a while, but his plans of getting lance wasted were ruined because of the attack. This was all you could do now.

"Thank you."

Lance waved at wilder, who was already on his way, and as he faded into the distance…. Lance finally regained himself and started observing his surroundings. The houses around the city were similar to the ones used in the Middle Ages on Earth, but there was a difference in quality, as it seemed like the Citizens of Elnor had been materials to work with. Lance couldn't help but Marvel at this scene.

However

While he was lost in thought.....

"Excuse you"

The voice resounded and following that, Lance felt someone brush his shoulder and directly walked past him.

"Watch where you are going, you filthy peasant."

The young man who had just brushed Lance's shoulders had a disgusted look on his face as he glanced at Lance's clothes. The Clothes Lance had on were low grade at best, and compared to his, Lance couldn't be viewed as anything less than a peasant.

"Hmmmm, maybe its time for a change of clothes"

While staying in his family household Lance didn't think much about dressing elegantly. He was basically leaving just like he did on Earth, frugally. But now he was in the city and had to represent.
