Unforseen encounter

"Hahaha!! I can't believe that they are students of the fire and ice academy, you really messed up this time kid, they will bend you over and ram you repeatedly for this!!!"

The manager, who was still on the floor behind Lance, began laughing hysterically. Lance came in here to cause trouble and made his customers leave in anger, why wouldn't he be happy to see him offend people that could probably kill him? After all, he clearly couldn't do it himself.

"That is for me to worry about old man"

Lance gave a casual response before turning to walk towards the counter. Actually, he didn't want any trouble, but they were clearly out to get him, and he couldn't just let them claim over his head.

"Here"

Stopping in front of the counter, Lance pulled out two pieces of coins from the bag wilder had handed over to him, and placed them on the counter. He then looked over at the attendant with the sides of his eyes before turning to leave.

"Sir….this amount is a little short"

The attendant tried to draw Lance's attention, but he just walked straight out of the store, not paying a single mind to what the attendant had just said.

"F*ck this is going to come out of my paycheck...."

The attendant couldn't help but beat himself up. The manager sent him to take inventory of everything lance had taken so as to make sure he didn't steal anything. But now Lance had walked out of the store with more than he had paid for. There was no excuse, it would have to come out of his paycheck, and there was nothing he could do about it.

He couldn't stop the manager from cutting his paycheck and he was unable to stop Lance from leaving, least he gets angry and kills him on the spot.

"Hmm? Who left such valuables on the counter?"

From the other side of the counter, a man dressed in a high-grade robe asked while looking at the two pieces of gold coins.

"Hm?"

The attendant looked over at this new customer and shook his head. "Its nothing, sir, just some random consumer."

"Oh? When did it become so expensive to shop here? Using Noble gold to pay for clothes? I'm afraid I will go bankrupt!!"

The man In the robes laughed out loud, to pay for clothes with noble gold? That was absurd.

"Wait what??!!"

The attendant turned to the gold coins on the table and his eyes widened. Noble gold was too valuable. Just like on earth where the dollar was backed by the powerful America, in this world powerful organizations could also back currency.

The work of normal gold coins was not the same as the worth of noble gold coins, and this was for one simple reason. The noble gold coins were backed by the nobles of Elnor. One of the most powerful powers in the kingdom.

"Was that guy a noble or just filthy rich?? Shit!! I really hope it was the latter, else we are doomed"

The attendant panicked and started running towards the manager, he didn't know what to do. If Lance comes back with someone influential and shuts down the store, he would be out of the job. He had to tell the manager.

Meanwhile, on the streets of Duan city.

Lance walked down the road with Ember and Arian by his side. Right now, he was heading back to the carriage to change, if whoever wilder went to see about him getting into the academy called for him, he couldn't be dressed like a peasant.

"Ummm master??"

While Lance was focused on getting to the carriage as fast as possible, Arian's timid voice resounded from behind him, causing him to briefly stop.

"Is something wrong?"

Lance looked over at Arian and asked, even back inside the shop, she had been acting like something was bothering her mind. At that time, he had ignored her since he was preoccupied with the ill-tempered ladies.

"It's just that.....the leader of the young ladies inside the shop, she looks kind of like the reverend Liana's daughter, Sapphire…."

Arian had a frown on her face that couldn't be seen because of her mask. If Lance had seen this expression, he would have quickly grabbed that something was wrong a while ago.

"Wait what?"

Lance paused for a second as the expression on his face soon became unsightly. How in heaven's name did she not think to tell him this sooner?

"And can you tell me why you thought it wise to keep that vital piece of information to yourself?"

Lance's words contained anger, why wouldn't it? If that was Sapphire, then her mother was the reason for his mother being In a coma right now, even if he would rather not hurt her, she would be valuable in his future plans.

"I….wasn't sure if it really was her, the last time I saw her she was quite young, plus.....you said we shouldn't speak."

Arian understood that lance was angry, so she spoke softly who would have thought that one day she would end up being the one getting scolded by Lance? But she didn't have a choice.

"I did….didn't I?"

Lance could remember when he said that, but it was just that, he was only trying to calm Ember down. He didn't know he would end up shooting himself in the leg.

"Oh well, let's take it slowly"

Even if it were her, he couldn't just abduct her in the middle of the streets, after all, she was of a high standing and probably had guards around too. He just had to focus on getting into the Academy, and from there he would proceed slowly.

"Let's head back first"

Currently, what he needed to do was get back to the carriage so he could meet up with Wilder and potentially get news on his chances of joining the academy.
