Misguided loyalty

Mindy made her way to the guest room, her mind filled with determination to mend the rift between her parents. She knocked softly on the door before pushing it open and stepping inside, her eyes searching for her mother.

"Mom, can we talk?" Mindy asked tentatively, her voice gentle yet resolute.

Grace looked up from where she was sitting on the edge of the bed, her expression guarded as she met her daughter's gaze. "Of course, Mindy," she replied, her voice tinged with sadness. "What's on your mind?"

Mindy took a seat beside her mother, her brow furrowed with concern as she studied Grace's troubled expression. "Mom, I know you're upset with Dad," she began, her voice hesitant. "But don't you think you're overreacting a little?"
