Janella was tidying up the living room, dusting the furniture and straightening the bookshelves. All of a sudden, there was a knock at the door.
"And who could that be?," Janella asked herself, wiping her hands on her apron.
Janella stepped out into the warm sunshine and walked towards the door. She opened it to see a handsome, tall man standing there. It was Lord Dominion, the man she had met by chance in the fields a few weeks ago. He had left Scotland soon after, but now he was back.
"My lady," he said, bowing slightly. "I am delighted to see you again."
"Lord Dominion," she said, returning the bow. "What a surprise to see you here."
"I had to come back," he said. "I was unable to stop thinking of you, my lady. Your smile has haunted my thoughts ever since we parted."
Janella felt her heart flutter at his words. "You honor me with your praise, my lord," she said.
"It is not merely praise," he said, his eyes meeting hers. "It is the truth. You are a most remarkable woman, and I could not help but return to see you again."
Janella was speechless for a moment, his words taking her breath away. But then she remembered her manners. "Please, come inside," she said, inviting him into the house.
"Thank you," he said, following her inside.
Janella led Lord Dominion into the sitting room and offered him a seat. He sat down, and she noticed that he was even more handsome than she remembered. His dark hair was perfectly styled, and his green eyes sparkled as he looked at her.
"I must say, my lady, you are as beautiful as ever," he said, smiling at her. "Your hair shines like the sun, and your eyes are like the clearest of waters."
Janella blushed, flattered by his compliments. "You are too kind, my lord," she said. But she couldn't help but feel her own admiration for him either.
