They Knew

Lord Dominion started to feel a strange tingling sensation in his stomach, and he couldn't quite figure out what it was. It was almost as if he was nervous about something, but he couldn't put his finger on what it was but he was sure it was because of Janella's presence. So he changed the topic of conversation, hoping that it would distract him from the strange feeling.

"The war between the McDonalds and the Bruces has been going on for far too long," Lord Dominion said, his expression becoming serious. "The fighting has only brought misery and destruction to the land. I have come to Scotland to try and end the conflict, once and for all."

Janella was taken aback by his words. She had not known that Lord Dominion was involved in the conflict, but she could see the determination in his eyes. "How do you plan to do that?" she asked.

"With peace talks," he said. "I have arranged for both sides to meet and discuss an end to thehostilities. It is my hope that through diplomacy, we can achieve what has been impossible through force of arms."

"That sounds like a difficult task," Janella said. "The hatred between the two sides runs deep. How can you possibly convince them to put aside their differences?"

"It will not be easy," Lord Dominion admitted. "But that is why I'm here in Culross and I believe that it is the only way to prevent further bloodshed. And it is the only way to secure a lasting peace."

"I'm impressed, My Lord," Janella said. "Do you truly believe you can succeed?"

He looked at her with a fierce determination in his eyes. "I must believe it, my lady," he said. "For the sake of the people, and for the future of this land. I will not rest until I have done all that I can to bring about a lasting peace."

Janella could not help but admire his resolve. It was clear that he was a man of great conviction, willing to risk everything for what he believed in. "I wish you the best of luck, my lord," she said. "You will need it."

"Thank you, my lady," he said. "Your support means more to me than you could know."

There was a moment of silence between them, as they looked into each other's eyes. Janella felt a strange connection to Lord Dominion, as if they shared a common bond. She could not explain it, but it was there, like a thread tying them together.

Lord Dominion got up and took 3 strides and another 3 back to where they were seated but this time, he say much nearer to her than before and they were silent.
