Emerge

It was still warm late at night and the darkness made an escape attempt perfect. the children that had escaped would not be found and brought back since they had both walked and ran for the last five hours. Only a few knew the direction of the closest city but they wouldn't stop traveling until they knew they were fully safe. Many of them had regained hope in their eyes, a feeling all of them thought to be far away had miraculously come from out of nowhere to save them. They were tired from working endlessly but not a single one wanted to stop and rest. The freedom that they now had access to was something that they couldn't take for granted when they still were treated like free labor and slaves. For the children who saw their savior first hand would never forget his kindness until the day they die.

Velios disappeared equally as quickly as he had come. He didn't know what got into him, why he would act so careless instead of just letting them be. This was a problem the old Velios never would have. The old him would probably do close to nothing or come up with excuses at best. This time however, he was prepared to kill for what he thought to be the best. Now with the city long out of sight, Velios was just laying down in the sand, contemplating on what the right decision would have been. "Wow, I thought I knew everything about your behavior but it seems like you proved me wrong. You're basically about to win against me at my own game." The same voice he had heard before was now talking to him. "Hey, would you mind letting me out of here, master?" That exact same tone in the voice, the same speech and the same sarcasm. Velios had only heard this voice a few times but it was so etched into his brain that he remembered nearly everything it said.

"Look, you just need to summon me, don't you know how cramped it is in here?" Velios didn't know what was happening. Another skill? A power? Was that monster still alive? Velios didn't know the answer to any of the questions but he decided to answer him anyways. "You think I care about your well-being? And how are you even alive?" Velios continued to ask questions and did not let the voice answer. "Calm down, master. Thanks to that weird necromancing magic you've unlocked you just couldn't leave me to rest in peace. I doubt that such a lowly creature as yourself could use such a rare and powerful magic." Velios was tired of hearing the voice. Velios wasn't in the right mindset either and his mana was basically depleted. "I'm going to take a nap, be sure to wake me up if anything happens, okay?" The voice was frustrated to be treated as nothing more than an alarm but Velios had already fallen asleep.

Velios woke up naturally but it was still as dark outside as when he fell asleep. His energy seemed to be mostly back and he couldn't sense any monster currently around him. After finally becoming fully conscious, a wave of emotions hit him. Not because of what he did in the city because that was still in the past and couldn't be changed. But, the exact same monster that had killed his first friends, the first people that cared for him despite having no obligation to do so, was still somehow talking to him as if it was alive. Velios didn't know what to say, he knew that he had killed that bastard but he was still talking. Being slowly consumed by his anger yet again, words that he would never say otherwise, popped into his head as if completely natural. "Emerge." A cold sentence with a single word but with enough power to summon one of the dead. Right then and there, the exact same monster that he hated most of them all, the most twisted and vile out of all of them had just returned to the world of the living.

"Took you long enough you bast-" A flying kick imbued with magic headed straight towards the monster landing perfectly on the ribs, sending it flying into multiple dunes of sand. "Hey, you! You're gonna kill me again!" The monster shouted as he landed but Velios didn't care. Multiple more kicks and punches were thrown at the weak and undefended monster. Even with its regeneration and other sets of powerful stats and skills, it still hadn't got its full power back. The now even more powerful Velios could easily not only land strikes but do so with enough power and force behind them that the regeneration had no way to keep up. Velios saw the monster as nothing more than a punching bag, waiting to be kicked and punched. The rest of the fight did not take long as it was swiftly taken down and killed. Velios tried to calm down as he watched the mana he used for the summoning disappear into the air.

"Hey! Don't just kill me without listening to what I have to say! Just because I'm an undead now doesn't mean that I can't feel pain!" The voice had yet again returned in his head. Velios wide opened from hearing it, realizing that killing it would not get rid of it completely. "Listen, don't just kill me because you want to, you use too much of your mana summoning even a single undead. Thanks to you, my powers have been drastically decreased because of your low level necromancing and your low amount of mana. You're responsible for weakening me and it's your job to fix it, you idiot!" Velios was angry just listening to his voice. The monster had so much self esteem and ego that Velios was genuinely frustrated. "Listen here, you piece of shit monster. If I hear you talk back, I'll kill you. If you disobey my orders, I'll kill you. If you attack anyone that I have not told you to attack, I'll kill you. The amount of suffering you have caused on others would still not be equal to the pain you would feel from being tortured to death a hundred times over. I have no obligation in helping you whatsoever."

The voice of Velios was completely serious. The monster however, did not take Velios seriously at all, thinking that humans don't have what it takes to kill something even resembling a human, forgetting what he had done only hours before. "Huh?! You think that I'll listen to the orders of a lowly human?!" The voice in Velios' head kept on arguing back. "Emerge." The monster had yet again been summoned, but even so it kept on arguing. "You should listen to my orders you dumb-" Lost in arguing, he did not manage to notice that he had been summoned and had his left arm cut off. "Did you say anything?" The tone of the sentence and face he was making combined into a different type of fear that the monster had never felt before. Actual fear, an overwhelming emotion which it had no control over. Velios did not even need to use the exclusive skill to instill the idea of fear and control over the monster. It was simply the immense pressure he felt standing in front of a creature with such overwhelming strength compared to itself.

The word "Vanish." Was said as if it was completely natural to him. The monster which had quietly shut his mouth disappeared the same way it had appeared. Now it was only Velios left, to keep on wondering about what right or wrong even meant as he started training yet again. His mana hard had gone from a light blue to a normal blue color in just fighting in the city. Velios kept on training, finding new ways to constantly train himself wherever he was or whatever he was doing. Through use of constant and big amounts of mana, it grew quicker in size and adapted to being used. Using magic was also an effective method of growing mana. He was still training to have his senses used to their maximum at all times, knowing how much he could do and get from something like that. He did not slack on physical training either as he focused on speed and focus in strength exercises while pushing himself however much he could at the same time. At the pace he was going, he was going to reach the light green manaheart in only a total of about a week's time.
