The adventurers guild had instantly had a different vibe as Velios walked into the building. It was not only bigger, but more suited for higher level adventurers with their own restaurant, multiple boards with different commissions, tasks and guild quests. Everybody there also had a different energy. Even though the situation was much worse for them compared to previous towns, all of them were lively, they communicated and talked to each other. In the corner of his eyes, he saw an unfamiliar figure waving at him with a smile on his face as if they had met before. The man kept on smiling and waving until Velios started walking towards his direction. Every adventure there, regardless of age, looked over at Velios who was covered in a weirdly colored substance. Something that looked like blood, specifically monster's blood. Something that shocked the adventurers further was the amount of bandages and injuries Velios had on him yet he was still able to walk normally.
The room that Velios had entered was still a small room, just a little bigger than the room he talked to the guild master from the town in the forest with. In the room, two men were sitting there, awaiting him. One of them the young man with blond hair that had waved at him and another man, bigger in size with a bunch of equipment and an axe sitting stuck to the back of his armor. "Welcome! You must have had a pretty rough time out there by the looks of it. I'm Michel, this town's guild master." As he went forward to shake hands with Velios, he got stopped by the man sitting beside him. "Cut it out with the friendliness, Michel. Have you forgotten why we're here? Why when asked the boy to come here. How that little brat together with his friends survived a monster encounter and came here to the city, both alive. Now way that some random no-name adventurers would even survive, do you know how many monsters there are out there?!" Michel tried to calm him down but to no avail. "Listen, Asim. We don't know what could have happened to him when he was out there and we don't know how many people died there. You know that better than everyone, don't you?" Asim calmed down at this, listening to the words of the guild leader.
Velios knew that he had to lie to some degree to make it sound believable but it didn't matter how much he cut it, it still sounded like he exaggerated. They were left speechless at what he said. "H-How did you guys even survive as a duo? It should be impossible, we're here to ask serious questions to get as much information about the monsters as possible." Velios just looked at them, knowing that whatever he said was going to backfire. "Let's make a deal then. If you two together beat my friend, who is weaker than me, then you will get all the information you want. If you don't beat him however, then you guys will have to give the two of us food for a week since we'll be traveling again as soon as I'm healed. What do you say?" Velios thought it was a good deal but the responses he got were varying. Asim was angry at the ignorance Velios showed the two of them while the guild leader was ready to accept it, thinking of it nothing more than a small mock battle with. Asim was still confident as the strongest adventurer in the city. Because of his overwhelming self confidence, he was willing to bet two weeks worth of food for nothing more in return. Before the guild leader had any time to intervene in the deal, Velios snuck in with his hand and a smug face, proceeding to shake his hand to finalize the deal.
The battle was going to be held just outside the city by the walls. A small crowd of adventurers had stopped what they were doing to watch the battle. The two of them stood there ready with their armor and equipment. "Hey! Where is your friend? Isn't he the one supposed to fight the two of us. Don't tell me he chickened out last minute?" He began laughing, but Velios responded by kicking the sand, creating a huge dust cloud. "You damn filth, emerge." Velios said it quiet enough for nobody to hear him but loud enough for the spell to activate, summoning Vadh. The dust cloud, covering both of them, ceased to exist. The spectators were both confused and mesmerized having witnessed a person appearing from out of nowhere. Meanwhile everyone was shocked with smiles on their faces, Vadh couldn't say the same for himself. Nobody else could see it except for him. The massive amounts of mana, waiting to be used. The look Velios gave wasn't the best either. The look would have scared the living out of him if it could. He couldn't help shivering in fear, constantly thinking the same thought. How many times... Is he going to kill me this time?"
"Hey, piece of shit. See those over there? You're going to defeat them for me. If you fail to beat them, I will kill you. If you kill them, I will kill you. If you hurt them too much, I'll kill you. Don't mess up, you got it?" The words were enough for Vadh, the monster definition of a psychopath, a killer, a murderer shrink back in fear. Being incapable of even standing around him. He was the only one being affected, the only one threatened and the only one that could suffer. Never in his life did he know it would continue like this, getting controlled and manipulated by a mere human as his master. Dying over and over again. The only way he could think of changing the thoughts Velios had about him, was to prove that he was a capable and befitting vassal. Vadh in that instance, had decided to change himself. He did not know where it came from or how it happened. His existence was created to kill and slaughter all humans but somehow, Velios had changed him so much to the point where he would become a different person almost. This change was nothing big and it was still the same to mostly every single other human. There was something special about Velios that Vadh couldn't sense, something mysterious.
The fight had begun, the two adventurers came to attack immediately but Vadh just dodged. Vadh may have been weakened but he was still a strong monster. Every attack of theirs would follow up with a counter aimed only at their armor or weapon. He didn't want to take any risk in hurting them in any way. The rest of the fight was completely one sided with Vadh having the advantage from the start. Asim swung his two handed axe straight downwards from behind but it was evaded with a dodge to the side. The axe was now stuck in the sand and there was now a space for a perfect counter. Pushing the weapon further downwards, Vadh threw an uppercut straight to the bottom of the chin, knocking him out. Vadh just stared down the guild master who instead of fighting the battle head on, had a different approach. "I resign, you win." Vadh just lowered his fist hearing the sudden resignation. "Hey, come back here now." Velios voice was cold and yet still as terrifying as the beginning. Vadh walked up to him and got down on one knee. "Well done this time. We'll be traveling again later today. But make sure this doesn't get to your head. I will never forgive you as long as I'm alive."
