Velios had nothing to do, really. Tournaments wouldn't start for at least a day, and the city was only filled with mercenaries and adventurers. None of them wanted to fight, and the surrounding area of the city seemed to be too peaceful. Velios never understood all of the people around him who were content throwing most of their day away doing pointless stuff like chit-chatting, walking, and other everyday stuff. Velios looked at many things objectively; he had been living in the deserts for almost six months, with the only thing that could talk to him being Vadh. Velios didn't want to admit it to himself either, but even after everything he had done, he still wouldn't forgive him. However, a connection had definitely formed as a result of their endless training and fighting together.
The sun was beginning to set, beautiful colors formed in the sky only a few hours before it got too dark. Even with the darkness enveloping the desert, making it almost impossible to traverse as a normal person, the city looked like a huge ball of light for those yet to arrive. Some people would do almost anything for just the chance of being there. Some traveled for days and nights without stopping, some sacrificed their lives to even cross the desert for the sole reason to showcase their own talents. The things people would do for power made even Velios feel confused. Why can't they just fight and train, he would always ask himself.
As he innocently walked around the streets, trying to find anything interesting in the vast city, he found himself getting increasingly bored until the point where he just couldn't bear it anymore. Little did he know just what was about to happen, what kind of events that would follow that would make him feel the exact opposite way. Not a single one of them would be able to even guess what was about to go down. All of them there expected it to be nothing more than a tournament or opportunity that would change the course of their lives for the better, not a single one of them knew. The biggest mistake you can make as an adventurer is to let your guard down, even for a single moment.
Large explosions could be seen and heard going off in the distance. Chaos erupted between the folk as more and more explosions could be heard. Suddenly, a massive fire could be seen engulfing a big spot off the city as it rapidly started to spread. Velios himself was caught off guard immediately. With his senses and powers, he should have seen any attempt of a monster or an attack before it happened. So, what was going on? Velios quickly spun his head around to try and see but was instead met by a terrifying aura making all of the other adventurers literally freeze up in fear. That which had appeared in the center of the city, causing all of the chaos, was no other than a dragon.
Velios was the only one out of them that stood firmly in place, watching as the dragon began wrecking havoc across the city. A massive smile erupted on his face, realizing that he would get a chance to fight something so strong. He himself began to emit his aura, strengthening his body. But, just as he was about to launch himself over to the dragon, he stopped. He raised his body to stand up completely straight, staring down onto the ground in sudden rage. Another creature had appeared, far superior to the dragon in terms of strength, speed, durability, and even mana. Velios couldn't describe it as anything other than a superior creature to the dragon, possessing utter strength. But that's exactly what he hated most of all. Intelligent monsters with the only purpose being to kill humans for no other reason than because they feel like it.
Other adventurers watched in fear as they saw one of the adventurers so scared stiff that he wasn't even running, let alone moving. They all watched in fear as one of the buildings had flown through the air directly towards only to find him elsewhere in the blink of an eye. He was completely out of sight, gone as if he had magically vanished, leaving only a gust of wind where he stood, with the building crashing into the ground, harming nobody.
A menacingly evil voice could be heard laughing. Far outside the city, a single monster stood still in the sand, watching as the city in front of him kept burning as more chaos ensued the place; the dragon showed no signs of stopping as nobody seemed to be strong enough. Suddenly, it felt a tingling sensation running through its spine, sensing that something dangerous was coming. Something with enough power to take out the dragon, a furious yet powerful aura. A person with immense amounts of mana was traveling at immense speed with the intent to come and kill it.
Velios was suddenly straight up in his face, staring directly into the monster's eyes, first terrified of the strength which Velios possessed, far greater than any of the humans. The mana was gushing out from Velios, forming an aura around him, which wasn't even that big. The real problem was how dense and pure it was. As soon as Velios had arrived within reach of the monster, it started to both burn and freeze at the same time where Velios' mana was touching. The monster shrunk back in fear, stumbling backward as parts of his body that were touching the mana either burned away parts of his body and face completely or froze it to the point where a simple touch could break the frozen area apart.
The monster jumped back and healed itself as quickly as it could. Parts of its face were missing, and multiple burn marks were found on the body, which took significantly longer to heal. "H-How hot are your flames?! I'm a superior dragon, nothing like that trash over there causing havoc in the city. My fire resistance should be more than enough to be completely fine from fire attacks from inferior dragons. So how is it that you, a human, can use such power?" The superior dragon had seemed to lose its mind, completely enraged. Its pride had been completely shattered, being damaged from fire that wasn't even from an attack, but the mana from a human.
The superior dragon, covered in bright red mana with the shape of a burning flame, ran towards Velios with immense speed, throwing a single punch aimed straight to his face. The punch stopped inches from Velios' face; the entire monster had mysteriously stopped. It hadn't even realized itself what had happened to it. The superior dragon watched as his own arm was cut cleanly off the rest of his body, making only a small sound as it landed on the ground. Blood came gushing out of the open wound. The superior dragon had no time to regenerate as Velios threw multiple punches and kicks onto its body, chasing it wherever its fragile and weak body flew after every connected attack.
Even after all of that, the superior dragon didn't even once think that it was inferior to the human that was beating him up easily. Then, it suddenly screamed. The mana output and the physical strength of the monster had now increased many times over. It started boasting about how powerful it had become, showing off the wings on its back, its magical power, and how much stronger it had become to a person that hated ignorant monsters more than anything. "You're not even deserving of me talking to you. You should have never lived. Never caused pain and suffering to the humans around you. You are undeserving of any form of mercy..."
The creature watched in horror at the sight of the human in front of him. His killing intent made him freeze up in fear. His words were enough for the superior dragon to shrink back in fear, and his gaze made it feel like the superior dragon was getting impaled over and over in an endless cycle of torture. It started cowardly fleeing, screaming and begging for its life. It couldn't even run straight as it fell and tripped on the uneven ground below its feet. As it crawled, it looked back to see Velios slowly walk towards it with the same look as before. A gut-wrenching, spine-tingling, and fear-bringing look. It begged for its life but immediately shut up after hearing the final words of its life.
"Do you know what is the easiest way to kill someone with high-level regenerative abilities? It's to kill them faster than they can heal." These words were filled with so much hatred, anger, and malice that the superior dragon physically couldn't move. Even if it tried, its body wouldn't listen. It knew, deep within, that it was the end for him. "Mana dome: Boundless Uncertainty." With those words followed a huge increase in the mana output from Velios. A dome of mana at an incredible size had been formed, changing the color of the sky from within. The superior dragon had only once felt power this immense, and that was from his superiors, the even greater and stronger dragons, the elite dragons.
