sub-demons

As he kept aimlessly walking around, him doing anything wouldn't change anything. The people around him had no desire to live. Corpses could be seen from anywhere along the main street, and homeless and miserable people were scattered across it. The people whom he had tried to walk up to, the people whom he had tried to help, were nothing but angry and irritated, and it wasn't a secret that most of them were either highly drunk or high on drugs. The same people had been throwing bottles upon bottles towards Velios, all of them having been broken with the glass shattering everywhere, but it didn't even hurt, and Velios couldn't care less about what someone did if it was only something that minor.

He had been looking around, seeing the multitude of different illegal businesses, shops, slave markets, and prostitutes. Velios didn't know why, but people were constantly walking up to him, always asking him to do something at the cost of money. Instead of actually just saying that he didn't have any money because he was broke, he just rejected them. Velios was on the verge of not killing anyone and killing someone. He hadn't realized it himself because of how greatly his mood and mind had been affected due to his surroundings, but he had already accidentally killed multiple people.

Velios eventually stopped at a bar, having been tired of walking around for no reason, only seeing suffering, blood, and despair around him. He opened the half-closed door before slowly making his way inside. His clothes were covered in the blood of others, and his appearance made him fit in somewhat. As soon as he entered, he realized that it was even worse inside than outside. There were a multitude of dead people lying on the ground which nobody seemed to care for. Many were naked and participated in intimacy in public without a care in the world, and some were heavily drinking, with some of them fighting each other. It reminded him way too much of his past experiences. It had been years since then, and he thought that he had no lingering trauma or memories that were to still haunt him, but it caused a reaction like no other.

Just as Velios was about to snap, he noticed something oddly familiar. He had never seen it before since he had only heard of it, but somehow, he was still able to recognize what it was the first time he looked in that direction. He remembered, it was Shiva who had told him about it. They were training like usual, and Shiva had accidentally brought up the topic of there being multiple different species of demons. He even remembered what Shiva had said about it. "Well, you see, as I've said, there are many different types of demons. There are ranked demons and unranked demons. Powerful demons fall into the different tiers from four up to one, one being the strongest. The unranked demons are much more unique appearance-wise. Some have the appearance of a small, gnome-like monster, while some have a human one. Right, there are many different sub-species of demons as well, that is to say, humans or monsters having been transformed into demons."

Velios tried his best to remember what else he had said following that, but all he could remember was the training itself, not the words which Shiva had said. It was made clear to him that he really wasn't interested in it and that he now had to pay the price. Eventually, after just a few seconds of thinking, Velios remembered what he had said. "What kinds of demons are made from humans, you ask? Well, the most common is the demon derived from lust, one of the seven deadly sins. Humans who have an overwhelming intense desire for something. Well, those cases are still pretty rare, but they're mostly caused from the lust of intimacy." Velios remembered more and more and began to realize something. "You want to know what they're called? Didn't think someone like you would be interested in the name of something. Well, they're called succubi, a type of sub-demon that live off of intimacy, draining the life force from any human they fuck, basically."

Shiva's words were clear enough for Velios to immediately understand without having to analyze. His way of talking was unique to him, and that was something Velios had taken note of. Velios hadn't given the fact that Shiva and Freya both had taught him a lot of information about their respective races a lot of thought, seeing that he wanted to train more. It was why he felt gratitude towards them, even if small. But, that feeling of gratitude was immediately overwritten by a feeling of intense murderous emotions. Velios stood there, in the middle of the restaurant, having zoned out with multiple demons doing as they pleased inside human society. "Stop." A single word was uttered, and everyone who was in the restaurant had suddenly stopped what they were doing, unsure of why. Not long after those words, people, or rather, demons, were being killed left, right, and center through the use of magic.

What remained was a huge pool of blood that covered the entire floor of the bar. No one was sure what happened; most were still far too out of their minds to be able to comprehend that anybody had even died. No one had time to beg, no one had time to scream. It was like the words from Velios were more than just words, but more like a command. A command that was forced to be followed. They weren't even sure if they could breathe or not; their thinking had been temporarily shut off, and before long, the demons had been cut up into unrecognizable pieces of themselves, posing no difficulty for Velios whatsoever. After he was done, he left without saying anything further. The individuals inside hadn't realized what had happened since it all happened so quickly and suddenly. They had not been able to see who it was or what it was that did it, which left them even more confused. As Velios made his way down onto the street, the screams from the confused masses of people from inside the bar only became louder, but the sound was drowned out by the door closing ever so much. Velios didn't know what had gotten into him, but he remembered something. He had spent so much time with monsters without having realized that it caused him to have a difficult time communicating with fellow humans.

Hours had passed, maybe even more. The knight captain was sitting in their office, stressed out by all of the papers sitting beside them. One by one, other knights came in, reporting on certain cases, constantly updating her on what was happening at different places. Eventually, when she thought it couldn't get worse, another one of the knights came barging in, but to her surprise, it was no other than the vice-captain. "C-captain!" He came running into the room, having swung the door open, almost breaking it in the process. "William! You almost broke the door!" She reacted by getting up, walking over to William who was on his hands and knees from exhaustion, breathing heavily. "I'm sorry! It's just, the people in the underground are dying!" She looked at him, confused as to why he had been running so desperately just to report something so trivial, something that happens commonly either way. "Of course, they are, they always are. Do you mean that they're still dying? You came into my room just to report the same stuff I get every day; do you see how much stuff I have to do?"

She gestured to the pile of papers stacking up on each other. William looked over to the pile and then looked back at her quickly. "No, it's-" William tried to stand up but banged his head into her cheek, causing both of their heads to collide. A collective "ouch" was heard from both of them as they rubbed the part they were hit. "I'm sorry! But this is really important! Someone... Someone is killing off hundreds of people down in the underground city as we speak!" She didn't appreciate his attempt at making a joke, which wasn't actually a joke. "Haha, very funny, William. If there really is someone there, why don't you or the other knights stop them? Let the demons do their thing; it's not like those people serve any value to this kingdom either way." She turned around before trying to walk back to her chair. She stopped immediately after hearing what he had to say. "No! We can't stop that person... We tried to, but we couldn't even see them. And... and they can use magic! And we've already confirmed that it's not a monster or a demon!"

William was still breathing heavily, unsure of how his captain would react. The only thing he could do was to relay the situation. It didn't matter what it would result in, as long as the information would be passed forwards towards the captain. She remained speechless. Not only was it confirmed to be a human, but one that was going around and killing hundreds of other humans. They were capable of using magic, fast enough so that the vice-captain wasn't even able to see their movements. William was still panting heavily, trying to stand up once again, holding his head in pain. "Where is this...?" She asked him, appearing to be calm yet a number of emotions laying low inside of her, waiting to be of use. "It's everywhere! You'd be able to see them from anywhere down there!" William was still freaking out, unsure of what to actually do himself or how to even respond properly, his words just oozing out of his mouths as question after question was asked. She ran to her sword, speeds so fast that it looked like she had teleported before grabbing it and putting it besides her waist. "What are you waiting for?! Come!"
