Dark Voids

The void was as dark as it was endless. It was quiet, and she didn't remember this place at all. It felt so familiar, yet, different. Where... am I...? What is this place...? Why...? Why can't I see anything...? She tried to communicate with words, but it was like her mind couldn't move. She tried to open her mind, but it seemed like nothing happened, no matter how hard she tried. All she knew was that her body was wrapped up in a feeble position, unable to move. Come on... I gotta move...! She tried to move again, but as she did, memories flooded into her brain of what had happened just minutes ago. Her thoughts stopped, her mind flooding with pictures of the scene. All she remembered was that a demon had snuck up on them before suddenly attacking, killing her instantly.

All of a sudden, her eyes sprung open. She could finally look around, move her eyes, but the rest of her body was still not responding. She knew she wanted to look around, it was what she was trying to accomplish mere seconds ago, but the memories of what happened terrified her to the core. She imagined herself curling up into a ball even further, trying to somehow cope with the tremendeous amount of fear she felt when all of a sudden, she began to see scenes which she had never seen before. It was like she was there in the moment, but invisible to the rest. As the scene continued, she felt the urge to puke only grow as the demon ripped out Vadh's spine. She didn't want to believe it, but she couldn't do anything to prove that it didn't happen. The fear was taking control of her, slowly.

A bloodcurdling scream was heard from somewhere behind her field of vision. It instantly snapped her out of her trans-like state, her eyes trying to focus, despite the fear in her still remaining. She wasn't entirely sure of who it was, but it still felt familiar. She felt like she should have known who it was, especially considering how strong and capable she was, but it was like all of that strength had been temporarily taken away. She just simply stared out into the endless void, reliving the memories of not only herself, but from the people around her. She was on the verge of losing it herself until suddenly, she felt a hand on her shoulder.

The touch was faint and most of her senses had seemed to disappear, yet the small touch on her shoulder was enough to snap her out of her thoughts. She didn't know who's hand it was, and this time, she wouldn't care if they were attractive or not. For some reason, that simple touch on her shoulder made her feel safe from whatever was plaguing her mind. The hand that held onto her shoulder tightened and the pressure on it increased. Not only that, but she could feel that the hand was shaking. She didn't know why it was shaking and she still had no idea of who it might have been. Her mind stopped remembering what had happened mere moments ago and instead poured its focus into trying to decipher why it was. But then just a few seconds later, it would prove that it wasn't needed.

"...Fre-... Freya..." The person's voice was shaky and a multitude of emotions seemed to acompany the few words which the person spoke. She still hadn't been able to move or turn around, but the voice was something she instantly recognized. Normally, she would be annoyed and would not let herself be touched by that person at all, but this time she allowed it for some reason. She tried to look around once more, but couldn't move at all. She couldn't speak either, so she remained completely unmoving until the familiar voice spoke further. "...Please-... Please stop me..." As the person finished their sentence, Freya was left even more confused. Why was he apologizing? And why to her? After all, they hadn't even seen each other for a few days. She wanted to ask so many questions, but couldn't move at all. Freya just continued staring into the abyss, waiting for something to happen, constantly trying to move yet unable to.

Suddenly, the sounds of footsteps reached her hearing as the person behind her walked around her, standing in front of her while looking down. However, these footsteps were not from the same person. Emotions of fear suddenly came back to her all in the same moment, realizing which footsteps it was that she had heard. She wanted to get away, she wanted to run, but at the realization of that she still couldn't move, she just let out a loud scream within her mind out of pure frustration, but also fear. She thought she knew who it was, at least, they shared the same voice, but when she saw the creature stepping in front of her, she realized that it wasn't who she thought it was. The creature standing in front of her was the very same that had brutally killed not only her, but the rest of their group that had remained.

She tried to shout and scream, but as she tried to move her facial muscles, she realized it was futile. She shouted internally instead, hoping for a small chance that some coherent words might accidentaly come out if she thinks hard enough. You...! You..! You monster! Who are you?! And why..! Why do you have the same voice as him?! Answer me- you filthy demon! She continued screaming internally, hoping that she may satisfy her own anger to some degree, but all of a sudden, the creature answered with a smile on its face, the happiness in its voice as clear as day. "Remember me? I'm flattered. You died so quickly, I thought you might not have had enough time to remember my face." The creature dragged out its words as if to sound more playful, yet its cruel intentions laying only a single layer deeper.

The creature squatted down, making sure that Freya had no choice but to look at the creature. Who are you..?!  She had so many questions, but she couldn't bring herself to ask any of them. Out of all of the different emotions she was feeling, she was honestly scared. She was afraid that the same thing was going to happen to her, scared of the mulitple possibilities. She couldn't move at all, yet the creature could freely do so. She had no control in what either she or the creature would do and that thought alone scared her senseless. Despite these feelings of fear, there was still a feeling that eased that emotion, almost working to cancel a small percentage of it. It was confusement. She had no idea why she had heard that person's voice was still beyond here. They looked nothing alike- That is when a sudden realisation hit her, but it was too late.

She tried to open her mouth to speak, but her mouth barely moved before the creature placed its hand on top of her head, gripping onto her skull while applying more and more pressure. She couldn't get a single word out as she felt a tiny percent of her strength come back for just a moment as the creature began pulling harder and harder as she could feel her own skin slowly rip off of her. Before she could stop the creature in any way, the creature had fully riped off her head, the sound echoing and coming back even louder, blood splattering everywhere onto the floor as Freya's eyes remained open, but lifeless. The creature smiled in pleasure while holding her severed head by her hair, digging its finters into her eye socket before ripping out one of her lifeless eyes before throwing it into its mouth before eating it fully, still smiling.

It felt like no time at all had passed since her head had been ripped off. It was like an instant and now, she felt her body floating around in yet another endless void with only one difference from the earlier that the planet they were just on was something she could look down on. She immediately started panicking as she realised that she was not anywhere near the planet and just floating in space. Because of her panic, she forgot that she was able to survive the cold and airless space, and also the fact that all of her powers were back. As she panicked, she then realised that nothing had happened. Not only did it not feel any colder then on earth, but she wasn't even drifting away. She tried to turn around while still floating until she felt a hand on the back of her clothes, holding onto her.
