"Oh, really?" Brian suddenly regained his frigid demeanor. "Fine then, you can search for your imp in the pouring rain."

The call was abruptly cut off. Marigold was left hanging, utterly perplexed by the sudden termination.

"What's gotten into him, being so cryptic?"

Just as she was about to take Bingo back inside, a thought struck her.

Choice had told her that there was only one time every day when they could receive a signal outdoors—at noon.

However, she had just received Brian's call near dusk, which meant that the signal wasn't restricted to noon, as Choice had claimed.
