Chapter 46

MARK

"Kenzo?" I sighed and raised my hand to knock, then decided against it at the last moment. I shouldn't disturb him if he was taking a nap. But I knew he wasn't. Still, that didn't give me the authority to barge in like a thief in search of something to steal.

I heard whispers. The sounds died down almost immediately.

"I'm coming," he called from within. There was a rustle, evidence that he was trying to get out of bed before he slowly pulled the knob.

"What are you doing?" I demanded in a tone that a single mother would utilize when chastising her delinquent son. Well, maybe I was a single parent. I mean, look at all these people in my household left in my care. Even Kenzo.

I had managed fine before Giulia came. But her introduction into my life made things easier, I won't lie. She was there to make sure I got out all the necessary steam. She kept Kenzo company and made him happy, and had all my boys in the property singing her praises.
