A KISS

I was awoken by the rhythmic beeping sounds of machines in the background. My eyelids fluttered open, and my sight was cast on the white ceiling. I turned to the heart rate monitor at my left, and my heart rate was moderate. I turned to the right and caught sight of Henry. He was sleeping peacefully. His body was adorned with a green sweatshirt and green joggers. His feet were embellished with a black shoe. I knew the chair wasn't comfortable for him but he managed, experiencing tranquility in a state of dilemma.

I looked at myself. My white hospital gown cascaded down my feet. I was on an intravenous infusion system. My mind was filled with questions but I didn't want to bother Henry.

I gently touched down from the hospital bed and Henry's eyes opened slightly. "You finally woke up," Henry began.

"How long have I been here?" I asked.
