Hori considered the question for a few moments. Since the spider already saw them and would probably try to kill them, he didn't really have to worry about aggravating it, right?

"It's not that powerful". Hori muttered to himself. A small smile crept up his lips. If it wasn't that powerful then he would just turn to his new friends to help him.

Hori almost cursed at the system when he heard the notification by the system. In fact, he would've lost it that very moment were it not for the fact that he was being watched by Columbus and the rest.

No matter, I'll just ask my friends to help

When he turned towards Zola and Imani, he eyes shone with disappointment immediately. They were hiding behind Columbus.

"Could you help deal with this beast, friend?" Columbus asked.

At that moment, Hori suddenly realized how cruel the world that he had designed was. He had been planning to take advantage of the trio, how come they were now taking advantage of him? Since when did the leech start supplying the nutrients.

He turned towards the spider and swallowed a huge chunk of saliva. It seemed that he would have to fight it.

He pulled out his rusted sword and prepared to fight the spider that was moving towards him leisurely. As if it believed that Hori had no chance of escape.

"Eew, that sword is disgusting!" Zola screamed out as soon as she saw Hori bring out his sword.

Imani turned Columbus around so that he would face her. "Are you sure that he's not a lunatic". She glanced at him. "First the display and now he's using thrash to fight!"

Hori almost vomited blood when he heard what Zola and Imani said. He was putting his life on the line to them and they casually insulted his choice of weapon.

"If you have better weapons why don't you go and fight the spider". Hori said.

The girls didn't respond to his words, instead they dragged Columbus back and hid behind him.

He placed his focus back on the spider and jumped away almost immediately. A greenish liquid shot out of one of the white patches Hori identified to be it's eyes.

The girls screamed in terror and dragged Columbus further away from the spider.

Hori glanced at the spider, he had mild surprise in his eyes. His eyes glanced at the spot where the green liquid had landed and his face betrayed the shock he felt.

The green liquid had formed a bubbling puddle on the red rimmed floor. Occasionally, green puffs of smoke rose into the atmosphere.

Sky wolf slash

Hori ran towards the spider and slashed at it. The dark clouds that oversaw the island seemed to become even darker. As Hori's sword descended to form a slash, a wolf claw fell from the sky and slashed at the spider in sync with Hori's sword.

The spider made a screeching noise as the wolf slaw and Hori's sword slashed on its body. Hori vaguely felt as if he saw scraping his sword on a metal surface.

This feeling was later culiminated when he saw sparks as his sword slided down the body of the spider. The wolf claw seemed to have no such struggles with tearing apart the spider.

There was a three inch king gash in the surface of the spider's skin. The wolf claw had cut through the hair and pierced the spider skin resulting in the pained screech that was heard earlier.

More of the toxic green liquid flowed out of the spider in place of blood after the cut was made. Hori rapidly jumped backwards to avoid the grunt of the toxic liquid.

Damnit! I've used all my moves. That was the only spell I knew… wait a minute!

At that moment, Hori remembered that he was the author of the book. He was the one that gave the author all the cool spells that he used all the way till the pinnacle of the world. So why was he depending on some small stupid spell.
