Things calmed down a little during the upcoming week. I tried to work from home as much as I could since I wasn’t feeling entirely safe and reassured that I could go back to my normal life just yet.
Archie insisted that I accept that Aoki went to work with me and acted as my bodyguard for the time being, and even though I hated the idea, I was considering it for the first time in my life. I didn’t like the idea of taking Aoki away from Archie though, even if he had other men to take care of his security.
But in any case, I felt like I needed some time away from people so I could work on my mind and heart. Ever since Archie told me about my mother’s death and everything that happened after it, I was having trouble sleeping—dreaming about my dad every single night.
Eventually, I had to tell Sienna about what was going on. She suddenly showed up at my house in the middle of the week saying she wasn’t buying my excuses of headaches and sickness.
