Chapter 52: Facing the Music

“Are you only realizing this now, brother?” I demanded. “How blind are you to let this go on? I only kept quiet because I didn’t want to cause any more trouble in the royal court. I stayed away because it was all about me. How do I keep silent when my niece is involved?”

“I will deal with Queen Marama. You better stay out of it. This is a private matter between us.” King Astaroth banged the table roughly with his fist.

“How will you deal with it? Like you always have?” Kloud demanded and raised his hands.

“This matter is already out of your hands, brother. Rae has been implicated and the court will crucify her if the guards and Kloud report what happened last night at my chambers. How will you defend your daughter from your wife?” I pointed out.

“How dare you talk back,” King Astaroth seethed, his face turning red with anger.

“I would not dare. But everything has its end. If you don't deal with this matter now, I will let Kloud make good on his threat.”
