PRINCE ULYSSES’S POV
It was past midnight when I heard Kloud’s voice as he held me tightly while we cuddled in bed. “Why are you awake?”
“I am too worried about tomorrow,” I responded.
“You mean worried about Princess Rae,” Kloud pointed out.
“Yes.” I nodded and pressed my nose on his neck, taking in his scent.
“You have your doubts. I hope that Queen Marama will not sacrifice her daughter tomorrow when I inform King Astaroth. I could tell he was losing his patience today. But I still don't understand why he keeps letting her do so much evil.”
“At first, I thought my brother was in love. But later, I realized that it's not that simple. Astaroth and Faolan must be after something that Marama has,” I confessed. I had suspected this a long time ago but never found out what Marama was up to. Instead, I chose to be away from the royal court and stay in the military camp.
