CHAPTER 21: WHY WERE YOU SPYING ON US?

After the blacked-out SUV headed out of town, leaving its hiding spot in a cloud of dust that swirled and hung in the air for the longest time before it eventually dissipated and drifted out of sight, the police officers that remained in its’ wake waited for the fading red taillights to blink out of sight.

When it was gone, everyone seemed to wait for Keith to make some type of announcement.

“Well, now we know why they surrounded our town,” Seth said, breaking the silence. “Forewarned is forearmed, I guess – something like that.”

“What should we do about the other ones?” Lizzy asked. “We still have units with eyes on them.”
