Chapter 71: Mass migration (Part 1)

Meanwhile back on Earth

"…The Spirit Record normally displays five basic stats; Strength, Stamina, Agility, Mana and Magic. And although all these stats are important what's even more important is the synergy between the stats that exist.

"…For example Strength and Stamina or Agility and Stamina or Mana and Magic…however what the spirit record fails to reveal are what I call auxiliary stats. Yes I'm talking about stats that are there but at the same time are not there and unless you meet certain requirements you never might have even known about their existence.

"…Common examples of these include; Endurance, Will, Intelligence and Charm. Of course there could be more but those are the ones that I know and unless you meet the hidden requirements and classes to unlock them, you will never really tap into their true potential…"

"…There are seven known pivotal stages of power that run from First Star Order all the way to the Seventh Star Order. Since you're from the lower world knowing anything above the Fourth Star Order would only give you useless worries…

I almost couldn't help but roll my eyes. Yep the author was definitely overbearing. Shaking my head I continued reading.

"…One is considering to have truly stepped onto path of evolution upon forming a mana core and breaking through to the First Star Order not only that but the quality of one's soul also improves. Upon reaching Level 20 you are unable to advance any further until you select a Job Class and complete the required breakthrough mission…

"…This is where things get hairy. The Spirit Record doesn't even provide the descriptions of the Job Classes, all it does is analyze the experiences recorded in your soul and then it will provide all the potential paths that are suited for you. Now remember some classes are classified within three categories…

"…Common, Special and Unique. As the names go common Job Classes are precisely that common and they include jobs like Warrior, Swordsman, Martial warrior, etc.

"…Special Job classes on the other hand you could think of them as the advanced and more powerful versions of the common Job Classes and sometimes they are a combination of two whole classes known examples are Knight, Guardian, Paladin and combat mage.

"…Unique Job classes are simply classes that are unique to a single existence"

I face palmed. What the hell kind of explanation was that!?

"…however what I will tell you is that Unique Job classes are powerful exceptionally so but they also come with incredibly difficult and almost impossible breakthrough missions such that very few people can survive such a path…"

I continued reading until it was late into the night and by the time I reached the final sentence of the book. It said something that nearly made me want to scream curses into the night.

It read

"…Oh and by the way if you're world doesn't get its shit together as quickly as possible then there's a very high chance of another lower world more powerful than yours taking note of your world and paying it a not so friendly visit…"

The morning came quickly. The sounds of a large engine rambling reached my ears as I stepped out into the cool morning air. Black Salamander, my trusty weapon hang from my hip. The black fingerless combat gloves felt warm in my hands together with the cargo pants and the long sleeved black shirt protected me from the slight cold.

The morning air actually felt colder than before the apocalypse. And deep within my soul I could vaguely feel it. A slight feeling that the Earth was changing, that it was evolving as well. I don't know if everyone was feeling this was or if it was only just me. Despite sleeping for as little as three hours I didn't fill any fatigue at all.

"That must be what the book meant by improved body huh" I muttered to myself

"Yo why you zoning out man" I heard Jordan's voice coming from in front of me. He gave me a slight wave a small smile on his face. He was out of bed and he was all healed up by now.

The Bronze Armor making him look valiant and the black gauntlets covering his fists and forearms would make him look formidable to anyone not yet used to this new world. and given his bulky nature well there were definitely few who would want any trouble with him.

Seeing my best friend I smiled before walking towards him.

"Look who's finally out of bed huh" I snickered. "For a moment I thought you were waiting for your prince charming to come and give you a true love's kiss"

"You want me to hit you in the face?" he said darkly

"Ha! You wouldn't even be able to land a hit on me anyway so don't embarrass yourself" I gave him a devious smile.

"Oh yeah?" Jordan took a step forward

"Yeah" I followed suit standing chest to chest with him my blood boiling. Even before the apocalypse I had always wondered who could win between the two of us and the obvious conclusion was that I would lose ten out of ten times. But now…

I really wanted to find out and I bet Jordan thought the same.

Before we could take things further I felt a hand slap the back of head. Hard

"Ow!" I said rubbing the back of my head with left hand. I turned around and froze when I saw Lydia's no nonsense expression that almost reminded me of the face mom made whenever I got into trouble.

"Ow! What was that for" I heard Jordan complain and when I turned to look at him I shook my head bitterly.

Jordan was rubbing the top of his head and his ribs at the same time and standing on either side of him were Rina and Candice.

'Well at least I'm not the only one being treated like this' I thought.

"You guys can't be possibly thinking of fight right before something more important right?" Lydia shot both of us a glare.

"NO Ma'am" Jordan and I said in unison

"Good. Let's go" Lydia smiled while giving me a nod of approval.

There was only one bus moving through the post-apocalyptic streets of York Town. The sounds of its engine might as well have been a lion's roar in the eerily silent town. I sat on the passenger seat right behind the driver making sure that I was on my complete guard.

With the amount of noise the bus was making there was a very high chance of beasts being attracted to the noise the bus was making.

On the other side of bus Lydia also kept a close eye on the outside after all while I was now beginning to faintly feel the auras of living creatures, my senses weren't nearly strong enough to be accurate and I wouldn't be able to sense anything that was more than five meters away from me.

Thankfully the road was uneventful. It wasn't long before the collapsed walls of York Town High were in view just lesser than ten meters. The sounds of the large bus must have attracted attention because standing right in front of the collapsed gates of that led to the school were three familiar faces.

Veronica Goldwing, Grem Ping and Conrad White.
