gloating Infront of one's father(Chapter 48)

Jennie slowly opened her eyes,still feeling sleepy she rubbed her eyes to sooth her tired eyes,completely awake she was suprised to find herself in their bedroom,the only thing she remembered was falling asleep in the car she didn't know how she got to their room,I must have been really asleep not to realise when I got into the room Lucas must have carried me to our room she thought a flush appearing on her cheeks,searching for the familiar figure in the room she noticed Lucas wasn't in the room assuming Lucas was in his study room working she didn't worry too much,she got up and headed to the bathroom and eased herself,going back to bed Jennie was unable to sleep so she headed to the kitchen and prepared coffee for Lucas,she knocked on the door for a couple of times before going in after not receiving a response,she was shocked to find the room empty and everything put in place like the room had been empty for hours,she searched for Lucas in the entire villa but she didn't find him,maybe he left she thought feeling a little disappointed,she headed back to the bedroom but she was unable to sleep,she sat on the couch deciding to wait for Lucas.Lucas drove home hoping Jennie didn't notice his absence,it was around 1:00am and after the mission he felt a little better like he had soothed his inner demons, arriving at his villa he packed his car and headed straight to the guest room,feeling refreshed after taking a shower he headed to their bedroom,slowly and quietly he pushed the door open only to see a figure quietly seating on the couch eyes on him.Lucas eye's widened in shock his breath caught in his chest he didn't expect Jennie to be awake at this hour,after sharing the same bedroom with her for days he knew how deeply she slept and never woke up at night not knowing what to say he scratched his head nervously, no one would believe he was the same man who had terrorizes an entire organisation,he was like a married man caught by his wife sneaking back home late at night.

Jennie had alot of questions but when she saw Lucas her mind become blank,she had waited for Lucas for more than one hour,she wanted to ask where have you been but she was unable to,standing up she headed to the bed and lied covering herself with the duvet,she was angry but she didn't know why she felt angry, seeing her covered with the blanket Lucas panicked his heart beat accelerating "Jennie it's not what you think I had gone out to take care of some business" he quickly explained, thinking she might misunderstood and thought he had gone to do dirty business well it was dirty business but it was different kind of dirty,Jennie was suprised to hear his explanation it's not like she had the right to know his business but still she felt a little happy "why didn't you tell me I was worried" she confessed "I'm sorry for making you worry it's just that you were asleep and I didn't want to wake you" he said half truth,"did you wait for long?" he asked "no just an hour" Lucas was suprised hearing what she said "I'm sorry" "it's okay you should rest" she said and closed her eyes,she had hoped Lucas would tell her what he had gone out to do but because he didn't mention it meant he wasn't willing to tell her and she didn't want to ask him.Lucas was still standing at the same place,the silence between them was getting awkward "are you hungry? you ate dinner early" he asked to break the awkwardness "no I'm still full,I ate alot at grandpa's place" she replied,the word grandpa didn't go unnoticed by Lucas and he felt happy before Jennie used to say your grandfather but today she had used a different word how could he not feel happy slowly she was accepting him.A smile unconsciously appeared on his face,he slowly walked on the bed and lied on the other side,Jennie's back was facing him so she didn't realise the stupid smile on his face if she had seen it she would have been surprised.

At country X,mr Louis sat on the hospital bed his expression gloomy,he had a few bandages wrapped on his left hand and right leg,his face had scars that were slowly healing,he had gotten alot of bruises from the accident,he had lost a significant amount of weight and he looked a few years older than how he was,his complexion was pale with chapped lips,it had been two days since he woke up from a coma,only his business friends come to visit him to sympathise with him and wish him quick recovery,no family member had visited him apart from his housekeeper who brought him fruits and told him about his wife's health,it seemed no matter what he did or even if he hired the best doctor in the world his wife's health wasn't improving,he well knew he had a fall out with his son but he had hoped he would come to visit him after knowing he was involved in an accident.He didn't know the situation at his company which was making him feel unsettled for unknown reasons no one from the company visited him not even his secretary,using his other hand he took a sip of the porridge brought by his housekeeper, he heard a knock on the door but before he could respond the door was pushed open,seeing who it was a smile appeared on his face, atleast he still knows I'm his father he thought feeling his heart lighten,he let out a sigh of relief and looked at his son "Jacob" he called feeling emotional,ever since they had a fall out he had not seen his son,he knew they were fighting because of the company but he was still his son and he still loved him seeing him made him emotional."Dad how are you feeling?" Jacob asked hidding his smug look "I'm feeling better son,I'll be discharged soon" he said feeling happy that his son visited him "that's good to hear,that accident was fatal luckily you survived .....you're strong" he said his word with hidden meaning,not catching the meaning of his words he chuckled lightly "I'm not that strong but I'm lucky I survived I just hope my driver wakes up from coma" "I hope so,anyway I come with good news" he said a smile on his face,mr Louis looked at his son confused "what news?" he didn't know why but he felt uneasy seeing his son smile at him "dad...mother is very sick and my sister is no where to be found after you got into an accident no one had been taking care of the company" he said his words unhurried,Mr Louis heart beat increased the heart monitoring device showing increased heart rate "wh...what do ..you ..mean?" he asked feeling his chest tighten "relax father you don't want to have an heart attack now do you?" he asked his voice sounding concerned but his expression saying otherwise,he looked at his son in disbelief now he could vaguely guess why he visited him but his heart kept denying it he hoped he was wrong "what I mean is after your accident the company doesn't have a CEO,you well know a company can't run without a CEO right?since the company has been in dire situation and the board members didn't want situation to worsen,they all held a meeting and each voted to assign a new CEO to run the company until you recover" he said looking at his father,he was enjoying seeing how his expression turned ugly with his eyes wide in shock and disbelief,mr Louis couldn't belive what he was hearing he had gotten in an accident that almost killed him,he had been in a coma for day and its been only two days since he got his consciousness and now his son was telling him that the board members have already elected a new CEO in his absence?no one even bothered to tell him such big news not even his friends who had come to visit him,he gulped hard feeling bitterness spread all over his body.

"Who.....is...the...new..c..c..e..CEO?" he asked with alot of difficulty,he hoped they didn't choose his son to be the CEO but seeing his son's behaviour his hopes were shattered,he had opposed the idea of his son inheriting his position he hoped they considered his opinion,a smirk appeared on Jacobs face "well who else is more qualified to be the ceo except your son?I know we had a fall out but I'm your son how could I watch the company fall to ruins? as your son I should be responsible but since you had opposed me being the CEO I couldn't do anything but I received a call from one of the board members they requested my presence at the company after much persuasion I agreed on their idea of voting for the new CEO guess who they voted for?they choose me as the new CEO" he said his face full of smugness,mr Louis froze he felt like he had been splashed with icy cold water,the heart monitoring device beeped loudly his heart beat increasing,he looked at his son tears threatening to fall,his son looked at him like he had won and he(mr Louis) had lost,he wanted to deny but he knew it was the bitter truth and what hurt him the most is that none tried to consult him as the former CEO.A nurse quickly pushed the door open,she looked at the heart monitor "what happened?" she asked her voice a little harsh,she knew who Jacob was but she couldn't help it "don't know we were just talking then the monitor begun to beep" he lied "you should leave" she said and quickly turned to mr Louis "sir you should calm down,tell me what's wrong?" she said but she didn't receive a response Mr Louis was frozen like a stone statue,she slowly helped him lie on the bed and injected him with a needle,after a few seconds he closed his eyes,Jacob who had been standing on the side sighed "is he going to be okay?" he asked feigning concern "yes,you should avoid telling him anything that can make him stressed" she advised,Jacob nodded his head and excused himself.

Jacob sat in his car feeling extremely happy,now that he had achieved what he wanted he wouldn't let it go,he was going to hold onto the CEO position with everything he got,it had taken him great efforts to become the CEO of Louis construction company his sisters absence made things easier for him,now that there was no one to challenge him he was going to own everything he believed should belong to him,remembering the great lengths he had gone he laughed so hard that his eyes become teary.Before Mr Louis accident,it was around midnight Jacob was dressed in black clothes his face covered with a mask he stood at an abandoned building,it was dark and quite with not a single person in sight,he had been standing for almost thirty minutes,growing tired and impatient he decided to leave but before he could turn he heard footsteps approaching alarmed he held his gun alert "why did you want to see me?didn't we say we can't meet unless it's urgent?" a man asked his voice deep, recognising the voice he let out a sigh of relief "I wouldn't have bothered to contact you if it wasn't urgent" he said "speak" the man ordered,he stood in darkness his features not clearly visible "it's about my father,we had a fall out he no longer consider me as his heir" he said "did he find out?" asked the man "no, it's just that after my sister left I'm not as obedient as is used to, he opposed me to be the new CEO despite being pressured by the board members" he explained "so what?" "I need your help, I need to be the CEO before that sister of mine comes back and ruin everything" he said "that's easy,you should just eliminate him after he is gone your are the rightful heir to his company" "I can't he is still my father and I'm not certain I'll be choosen as the new CEO" "hahahaha really?" the man asked sarcastically "okay then... killing him might bring us unnecessary troubles,I'll take care of your father and the board members after that everything is on you" he said "thank you" Jacob said "don't let me down and also don't forget our deal" the man said and without waiting for his response he left,Jacob sighed in relief a smile on his face he couldn't wait to be the CEO,when he received the news of his father's accident at first he was suprised then after knowing the entire truth he felt delighted,as promised the man took care of his father and threatened the board members,now the ball was on his court.
