[49] The Thoughts of Girls

Chapter 49: The Thoughts of Girls

In the morning, when Yuta woke up, he immediately felt a heaviness on his body.

Unlike usual, it wasn't Sora pressing against him but Hina. Hina was much lighter than Sora, but without the subtle movements a girl's figure could provide, it felt different.

Yuta slowly sat up, intending to move Hina aside, when he noticed Miu lying on his side, wide awake and watching him.

"What's wrong?"

Yuta felt a bit uneasy under Miu's gaze and asked quietly.

Miu sat up and replied, "Nothing. I just wanted you to get a bit more sleep; I woke up not long ago."

"Onii-chan?" Sora exclaimed suddenly upon hearing the term and sat up fast as if jolted awake.

Just moments ago, Sora had a dream in which Yuta told her to call him Onii-chan and that he liked her…

Miu was startled by Sora's sudden movement. Seeing that her sister seemed still half-asleep and staring blankly at the air in front of her, she turned to Yuta and said, "Big brother, you should try to make an effort too."

"Effort?" Yuta looked puzzled. "Am I not trying hard enough?"

He believed he was doing quite well, even if he was so busy he didn't have time to eat. But that was mostly because it wasn't necessary.

When the situation truly called for it, Yuta would certainly work hard for the sake of his family. Even now, he felt he was doing a lot and had already been quite diligent!

Miu sighed and anxiously said, "I mean in other areas! Big brother, you should also pay attention to girls' feelings sometimes!"

"Girls' feelings?" Yuta furrowed his brow, trying to understand what Miu meant.

At that moment, Sora stared blankly at Yuta as well. Once she noticed he was there, she said, "Good morning, Onii-chan."

"Yeah, good morning, Sora," Yuta replied casually.

Sora nodded and began to get up. As she stood up, preparing to tidy her bedding, she suddenly felt a chill wash over her, which made her fully awake, and she realized it wasn't just a dream.

I… I-I… Onii-chan?!

With her head lowered, Sora felt a tremendous upheaval in her heart. In that moment, both her emotions and her expression were anything but calm.

With wide eyes, Sora looked scared and tense as she stared at the ground. Trying her best not to let Yuta and Miu behind her notice her discomfort, she walked gingerly toward the changing area by the curtain.

Miu smiled and turned to Yuta, who seemed deep in thought. "Big brother, are you going out to work today as well? I'll make lunch soon, so we can eat before you go."

"Yeah, I'll handle the cooking," Yuta replied, momentarily pushing his concerns aside as he stood up to head to the kitchen.

But Miu grabbed his arm, smiling as she said, "Let me take care of the cooking! I've been practicing my culinary skills to improve my 'feminine charm'!"

"Feminine charm?" Yuta looked a bit confused.

"It means how homemaking and nurturing you are!" Miu explained cheerfully, clarifying the concept for him.

Yuta thought it was a good thing for girls to learn how to cook. Since there wasn't much to do around the house, he decided not to interfere in the matter.

At that moment, Hina was awakened by the ruckus, complaining that she needed to use the restroom, and Miu took her by the hand headed to the bathroom.

The small area behind the curtain was a changing space and also a narrow area just outside the restroom, so Miu quickly spotted Sora there.

"Sora, Big brother was really happy to hear you call him that!" Miu chimed in, giving Sora a nudge of encouragement to keep calling him that.

Sora's earlier worries began to ease as she registered Miu's words. For a long time, she had felt distant from Yuta while Miu freely called him Big brother; it was as if she was being sidelined.

Now, knowing that Yuta appreciated that name, she thought it was okay to continue addressing him that way. After all, they didn't have any blood relation, nor were they in a foster parent-child relationship.

Their true guardians were their uncle, and Yuta had secretly taken them out. Although their relatives had tacitly accepted this arrangement, legally, Yuta wasn't their guardian.

So, there were no barriers between Sora, Miu, and Yuta.

With a smile, Miu led Hina into the restroom, while Sora worried about which outfit to wear today, wanting to show her best side.

Once alone, Yuta tidied up the bedding on the floor and stored it away in the cabinet. Afterward, he began to understand why Miu had seemed upset with him.

Yuta realized he had been so preoccupied with work and making money these past few days that he had overlooked Miu's feelings.

Thinking this way, he made a decision: he wouldn't go to work today.

Today, he would take the time to care for Miu properly.
