[50] A Fortunate Mistake

Chapter 50: A Fortunate Mistake

It took Sora half an hour to pick out her clothes. If Yuuta hadn't been in such a hurry to use the bathroom, it might have taken even longer.

After getting dressed, Sora stood by the balcony side of the room where the lighting was best. She hoped Yuuta would notice her and appreciate the merits of her outfit.

"Sis, what are you doing standing there?" Hina asked curiously, looking at her sister. "Sis! Sis! I'm hungry..."

Miu picked up Hina and carried her aside. "Let's go to the kitchen and find something to eat, Hina."

Despite being only ten years old, Miu often displayed a mature demeanor and understood her sister's intentions well.

Sora sighed with relief and continued waiting for Yuta to come out.

Yuta, oblivious to the situation outside, saw Sora as soon as he came out of the bathroom. At that moment, Sora had her back to him, and the glass door in front of her was slightly ajar. If there had been a breeze, it would have lifted her hair and enhanced her graceful appearance.

Hearing the footsteps behind her, Sora nervously turned around and slowly looked at Yuta. "Good morning, Onii-chan."

Yuta's eyes lit up as he saw Sora in her new outfit and thought about how he could make Miu happy.

"Good morning, Sora. That outfit looks beautiful on you; it suits you very well," Yuta said with a smile and asked, "Did you buy it yourself?"

Sora's heart soared at Yuta's compliment. Trying to contain her excitement, she lowered her head and smiled. "Yes, I picked it out myself."

"You have great taste, Sora!" Yuta praised her. He also remembered that the last time Sora came home, she brought back a large bag of clothes, while Miu had very few.

Feeling nervous and struggling to contain her emotions, Sora nodded and said, "I'll go make breakfast now."

Yuta watched Sora head towards the kitchen, contemplating whether he should ask Sora to buy a few outfits for Miu as well. However, he realized that doing so might not show his care for Miu, given that he had been neglecting her feelings.

Yuta had previously told Miu that he hoped she could occasionally be a bit more spoiled like other girls. He now recognized his mistake only after Miu expressed her feelings, realizing how he had overlooked her emotions.

Therefore, today, Yuta wanted to make it up to Miu properly.

Like Sora and Hina, Miu was also a wonderful child. Compared to Sora and Hina, Yuta had always felt that Miu was the one who forced herself to smile the most and made the most sacrifices for the family.

Soon, Miu returned with Hina and began playing with her, ensuring that Hina didn't disturb Yuta and the cooking Sora.

Yuta observed Miu playing happily with Hina and wondered what girls her age typically liked. He wasn't sure.

After dinner, Yuta said to Miu, who was sprawled on the floor drawing, "Miu, I'm going to Ikebukuro to see sister Touka. Why don't you come with me? It would also be a good chance to discuss some things."

Miu sat up and agreed, "Sure."

Hina also wanted to go out and said to Yuuta, "Uncle, I want to go too!"

"I will be watching the house with Hina. Miu and brother will be meeting many relatives, and it might not be suitable for Hina to come along," Sora explained. She needed to stay at home to take care of Hina, so having Miu come along was the best option.

Hina, being obedient, agreed after hearing Sora's explanation.

Yuta sighed with relief, and Miu noticed this.

Miu glanced at Sora and Hina, who were watching TV and hadn't noticed the exchange.

Soon, Yuta and Miu left their place.

After walking for a while, Miu hooked her arms around one of Yuuta's, asking, "Big brother, come on, are you hiding something from me?"

Seeing Miu's knowing smile, Yuta couldn't help but smile in return.

"Alright, I confess. Besides reporting to sister Touka about recent events, I mainly want to buy some new clothes for you. My payment has come through, so we don't have to worry about money. I want to make you happy and let you dress up as much as you like."

"We have plenty of time today, so let's go buy some beautiful clothes that match Miu's style!"

Miu lowered her head, but when she looked up again, she was smiling. "Big brother, you really don't need to go to such lengths. It's not like I don't have any clothes..."

Miu wasn't concerned about the clothes; what mattered to her was that Yuta noticed her and was thinking about her.

Yuta felt it was very necessary and insisted, "We definitely need to buy some clothes. Even if you don't care, I do!"

Miu looked ahead and avoided meeting Yuta's gaze. Being cared for felt really good, but it also made her uncomfortable. She quickly let go of his arm, walking ahead with her hands behind her back. "Big brother, you really don't understand girls at all..."

Miu gazed at the sky ahead, feeling a bit guilty toward her sister. It would have been nice if Yuta could understand both her and Sora's feelings.

Yuta was once again told he didn't understand girls' thoughts. Maybe he was wrong? Well, if so, he'd accept it. Today, he was determined to do more for Miu!

"Girls' thoughts are so hard to guess," Yuta said with a smile, stepping closer to Miu and taking her hand. "Watch where you're going."

Miu tightened her grip on Yuta's hand, deciding to set aside her family matters for now.

Looking up, she smiled at Yuta and said, "Big brother, crouch down. I have something to tell you."

Yuta, puzzled, crouched down as instructed.

Miu smiled as she leaned in close to Yuta. As she reached his ear, she quickly pecked his cheek and then ran off.

"This is your reward for today! But don't tell Sora or Hina!"

Miu wasn't sure why she did it, but she felt no regret at all afterward.

I won't be the little sister-in-law!
