Lacking In So Many Ways

"Ms. Young," The man stood up with a polite smile and reached out his hand for a handshake. Susan actually stared at his hand for a second in consideration before lightly shaking his hand. "Mr…"

"Oh no. You can call me David," The man said and released her hand. He could tell she was uncomfortable and though he did not know the reason he gestured for her to sit.

"Thank you." Susan helped herself to another couch. She really needed that distance between them in other to think properly. 

Once again, she let her gaze check him out again. 'I thought he was the son of a wealthy man. Why is he dressed like he doesn't own any good suits, and what's with the bowtie?'

Susan was already being judgy and couldn't wait for the date to come to an end so she could go home and call her mother out for being horrible at picking date partners for her.
