Red Demon sat in his hotel room and was eating a plate of food. The other two hadn't returned yet so he decided to enjoy a meal. He ate rice and a grilled fish just staring at the table lost in thought. He took a mouthful and chewed slowly thinking. 'If the King is a Bedlam user he will be a master user of it. I am out of my league with the element right now' he drank some water and leaned back in his chair. 'The pool of blood has to be the source of the negative chi I felt from the arena. It corrupts the minds and takes souls with each occupation. That must be his source of cultivation?' he wiped his hands and mouth and stared at the empty plate. 'The creatures inside the pool? That seemed strange? I should ask around about the wildlife here. Maybe they would know what they were.' He stood up and pulled up his tight mask over his nose and mouth. He left the room and began walking towards Smiling's room. He knocked and got no answer. He repeated this at Sun's room and also got no answer. So he left the hotel taking to the streets looking for a shop with ties to wildlife. Best place was to find a hunter guild who collected Mythical beasts for forging or apothecary.
It took him a while to find a guild spot and that seemed odd being a bustling city like this. Most realms had them minus the Island Realm that seemed to be a lonely existence. It had been unique to most realms that were planets, but it seemed to be floating lands in a field long ago exploding apart only to stay intact as pieces. But here this place running on war and violence should have more hunter guilds. But there was only one he found and the building was ragged. The sign was broken and unlit. The windows were dirty and when he looked inside he saw only a single person laying face first at a table asleep. He entered and the man did not get up. He resembled the place ragged and with long hair spread out over the table top. He lay with his head sideways and drool pooled under his face. Red Demon looked about and saw no one else. He then knocked on the table waking the man up with a startled gasp. He looked at Red Demon with wide eyes for a moment before squinting and then rubbing the sleep from them. "What time is it?" The man asked. "I couldn't tell you?" Red Demon said back. The man nodded and then stood up walking over to a sink as he got a glass of water and drank it down. He then pulled out a bottle of liquor and sat back down at the table. He popped the cork off and took a swig. He lit a cigarette and then finally addressed the Red Demon standing in front of him. "Hunter Guild Dogma at your service! What can I do for you?" He said with a cheerful tone. Red Demon arched an eyebrow in confusion at this little interaction.
"Okay. Well for starters I'm curious as to why I only found one hunter guild here. And why is it you're the only occupant of this guild?" The man smirked, taking a drag from the cigarette. "You must not be from around here? See we did have an influx of hunters, but see when the king did a purge to eliminate all growing threats hunters were first on the list next to the Ghost Hand" he took a long swig from the bottle. "So what you see is what is left of the guild. If your next question is why am I here? Well I'll tell you that I can freely see unlike my friends who died out in those streets. I happened to get a job and came back to the aftermath. You're looking at the last hunter in Dread City" he smiled big. There was no joy but a hollow demeanor: a shell of man sat before him. And this piqued Red Demon's interest. 'Well well I think I have an idea on how to handle the arena problem right here' he then pulled up a chair. "I will say you're perfect for the job I have in mind. See you hate the king and in a way instead of me handling it how about you stick it to the king and do the job I have in mind?" The man squinted and took a drag from his cigarette.
"Depends? What job is it you want done?" Red Demon nodded. "The arena I have delved into its inner chambers and found something that I think if destroyed will weaken the king greatly. Which would make my job easier in the long run. See the arena is collecting the blood of the victims out into the ring. Upon the lake of blood is a magic circle and a tunnel leading to the palace. I believe this is where the king cultivates. The issue I've run into is what lives in the blood itself. I saw a large worm-like creature practically bathing in it. What creature is that?" This time the man perked up and the sleep seemed to disappear from him entirely. Now he looked engaged, flicking the ash off his cigarette. "If what you say is true then you would be looking at a Chaos Worm. They are savage beasts that live in the deserts. Most are used in rituals to elevate Bedlam users. They can grow to different sizes, but if fed enough they can be as big as a house. They are attracted to the scent of blood. The more they consume the more they give an aura of chaos that seems to poison the very air. It is said that this gas would drive people in bloodlust and kill frenzies. The gas is used in cultivation to feed the Soul Core" Red Demon nodded. "Damn I was right the very arena is consuming the peoples minds along with their souls when they enter it. Can you confirm something for me. What element does the King possess?" The man took a long drag.
"Bedlam and an unknown element as well as being rumors" Red Demon shook his head. "Of course he would have such a rare element?" He mumbled. "Rare?" The man said with a big smile. He then extended a hand and red energy coiled around his arm and then erupted out hitting a table cutting it in half. Red Demon starred in surprise "You really aren't from here. War Realm has the biggest populace of Bedlam and Flame users out of all the realms. It ain't rare here at all so tell me who are you anyway? You talk as if you are intending on killing the king?" The man put out his cigarette and took a swig of his drink. "I do intend on killing the king. I need you to kill the Chaos Worms and the magic circle while me and my team worry about killing the king" the man held the liquor in his mouth and then drank it with a gulp. "Well, to do all that will require some serious cash on your part. Because after I do this I'm out of this city. My revenge will be complete" he said with a sad tone. "How much?" Red Demon asked.
"A thousand gold" Red Demon nodded and threw down three pouches of money. "Five hundred now and five hundred after completion" the man shook his head. "No. Thousand upfront. You want this done and I want out of this city. I don't intend on screwing you. That son of bitch killed people precious to me. They were my family so don't you worry about me not completing the mission. I want to hurt him! Hurt him enough that if you are gonna kill him you succeed. Do us all a favor and do it! Ghost Demon sure seems to beat around the fucking bush with it?" he took a swig of his drink. Red Demon seemed to hear his words and believe him, throwing down three more pouches. "I'll trust you, but know that you screw me it will be the last thing you ever do" Red Demon stood up and made to leave. "When do you intend to do this?" The hunter asked, looking at one of the pouches. "Two days from now. I have other business to attend to before I can make it happen" the man nodded. "Still haven't told me who you are?" Red Demon shrugged. "A paying customer" then left the shop. The man chuckled at that. "Indeed you are. Time to clean the dust off the equipment" he felt invigorated.
