Chapter 2.3: Meet and Greet

Jophiel nodded, touched by his words. "I promise, Granpabi. We'll find that vase and return safely!" She proclaimed it.

Lucifer sigh softly. "I guess I'm in no position to argue." Lucifer couldn't help but be drawn into the unexpected adventure, spurred on by Jophiel's determination. He glanced at her with a mixture of amusement and curiosity. "Well, it seems we have a mission to retrieve this elusive vase."

Ennemond chuckled at their enthusiasm. "Well, I appreciate your willingness to help, but don't put too much pressure on yourselves. If you can't find it, it's perfectly fine."

Jophiel nodded enthusiastically, her determination shining through. "We'll make sure to find that vase for you, granpabi."

Lucifer raised an eyebrow, still not entirely thrilled about the vase-hunting adventure they were about to embark on. "Are you sure about this, Jophiel? It sounds like quite the task."

Jophiel turned to him with a determined glint in her eyes. "Absolutely, Lucifer. We can handle it. Besides, it's the least we can do after the vase incident."

Lucifer let out a resigned sigh. "Very well, I suppose we're in this together."

With their determination fueled by Ennemond's trust and support, Jophiel and Lucifer prepared to journey to Jerusalem in search of the elusive vase, unaware of the challenges and surprises that awaited them on their quest.

Lucifer sighed, realizing that he was being roped into an unexpected adventure. "Seems like we're going on a vase-hunting expedition, then."

Jophiel and Lucifer exchanged glances, their unique connection evident even in their brief conversations.

"I'm sorry too, Granpabi," Jophiel expressed her remorse.

Lucifer, seemingly caught off guard by Jophiel's comments, responded, "I also apologize for the mess, Mr. Ennemond."

Jophiel couldn't help but comment on Lucifer's unexpected show of respect. "What?" she questioned.

"I didn't expect the Demon Lord to have any respect," she added, her eyes playfully rounding.

Lucifer defended his stance, stating, "Respect is also one of my things, archangel."

Jophiel grinned in response, "And rebelling is your great thing."

Lucifer muttered under his breath, "Why did I even save you in the first place?"

Jophiel turned around, puzzled. "What are you saying?"

"Nothing," Lucifer quickly replied, brushing off the comment.

As lunchtime arrived, Ennemond called out, "Lunch is ready!"

The three of them gathered around the table, and Jophiel couldn't contain her excitement. "Yey! Steak!" she exclaimed.

After a satisfying meal, Jophiel observed Lucifer's attire and made a suggestion. "Lucifer, maybe you should buy some new clothes. You've been wearing those since Granpabi found you in the ocean."

Lucifer chuckled in response. "You're right. Since I'm living among humans now, I should take your advice, archangel."

Jophiel, somewhat surprised, remarked, "Living among humans? I didn't see that coming from you."

Lucifer confirmed, "Well, that's the plan."

Jophiel inquired further, "So where are you going?"

"To buy some clothes, obviously," Lucifer replied casually.

Jophiel raised an important concern. "Do you have money?"

Lucifer, unfazed, reached into his pocket and retrieved two diamonds. "No, but I remembered that I brought diamonds here..."

He flashed the diamonds with a sly grin. Jophiel couldn't help but tease him, "So you're stealing now, archangel?"

Jophiel suggested a different plan, "No! Let's pawn at least these two diamonds; it should be enough money to get what you need. And I also suggest you keep your jewels, gold, and diamonds. Here on Earth, even in Bethlehem, these kinds of things can be quite enticing to people, and they might try to sell them in illegal ways, or, you know, inhuman dealings."

Lucifer nodded in understanding. "I get what you mean, archangel. Rest assured, I'll follow your earthly commands."

With their plan in place, Jophiel was ready to accompany Lucifer on his shopping trip. She turned to Ennemond, calling out, "Granpabi?"

Ennemond responded with a smile, "Yes, sweetheart?"

Jophiel explained her decision, "I'll go with Lucifer to help him pick out clothes. It seems this big-chunk here might need a babysitter for a while." She playfully rolled her eyes.

Ennemond burst into laughter, "You two look adorable together."

Lucifer and Jophiel turned to each other in shock and quickly retorted in unison, "Never in an eternity!"

Ennemond continued to laugh heartily, "Okay, okay. You can go now."

After mortgaging the diamonds at the pawn shop, Jophiel took the lead as they went shopping for clothes. She had a keen sense of fashion, and Lucifer soon found her annoying as she picked out clothes for him. However, as they spent more time together, they began to enjoy each other's company, sharing laughs and enjoying their outing.

Once they had bought the clothes, Lucifer decided to treat them to a snack at the food court. Jophiel thanked him for the snack, and he was surprised to hear her call him by his name.

"Did you just call me by my name?" Lucifer asked, genuinely surprised.

Jophiel giggled, teasing, "Well, it's kind of fun to tease you by using your name, Lu-ci-fer!"

Lucifer smiled, playing along, "Fair enough, then. I'll call you Jophiel."

As they enjoyed their snack, Lucifer suggested, "I'll call a taxi first to leave these clothes we've bought with Mr. Ennemond so we don't have anything to carry. After that, we'll head straight to the train station. Time is ticking."

Jophiel couldn't help but tease him, saying, "Looks like who's leading and commanding now... Impressive!"

Lucifer shrugged, "I'm trying to adapt to the environment here, archangel. Jophiel, rather."

Jophiel chuckled at his playful name and couldn't help but notice his slight blush. "Why are you blushing?"

Lucifer tried to play it cool, saying, "Nothing..."

They arrived at the train station and, after delivering the clothes to the flower shop, hurried to catch their train. They barely made it in time, rushing through the closing doors just before the train departed.

Lucifer remarked, "That was a close call."

Jophiel let out an exasperated sigh and joked, "Well, I guess we can't use our wings momentarily when it comes to chasing a train."

Inside the train, they both spotted a single occupied seat, and they both insisted the other should take it.

"You go ahead," they both said simultaneously.

Lucifer grinned and said, "No, no, no, I'm totally fine. Jophiel, I think you should take the seat. After all, Father made women fragile, and I think you should ease off."

Jophiel chuckled and replied, "Okay, if you insist. But you know, women may be fragile, but we're also strong."

Lucifer smirked and nodded, conceding, "Answer defended."

As the train journeyed on, Jophiel gazed out of the window, admiring the beautiful scenery passing by. A smile graced her face as she appreciated God's creation.

Lucifer noticed her contentment and asked, "What's the matter, archangel?"

Jophiel turned to him, her eyes still filled with wonder. "Oh, nothing. I just adore Father's creation. It's so beautiful and magnificent. 'Bloom the Bethlehem' will be my so-called mission here on Earth."

Lucifer listened to her words and nodded, saying, "That's truly magnificent to hear."

Jophiel, however, couldn't help but express her curiosity. "You know, Lucifer, I've been wondering lately and lately, you've become fine and being a gentleman somehow. Frankly asking, is this part of your 'Domination' plan?"

Lucifer pondered her question for a moment and then replied, "Well, I don't know it either. I'm still the Devil, but this time it's different. And I need to know why."

Jophiel simply smiled and said, "Let God's will alone decide."

Soon, the train arrived at its destination, Jerusalem. The station was bustling with people, and they had to find Mr. Ennemond's friend's shop.

Lucifer and Jophiel stepped out of the train station and into the busy streets of Jerusalem. The city was alive with activity, and the air was filled with the scent of various spices and foods from nearby vendors.

They made their way through the bustling streets, the sun casting a warm and gentle glow over the ancient city. As they walked, Jophiel couldn't help but admire the history and culture that surrounded them. The sights, sounds, and smells of the marketplaces filled the air, creating a tapestry of life and culture that was unlike anything they had experienced before.

Lucifer, despite his initial resistance, was starting to find himself enjoying the human world more than he had expected. He was drawn to the chaos and complexity of it all, a stark contrast to the rigid hierarchy of Hell. There was a certain freedom in being just another face in the crowd, even if that face happened to belong to the Devil himself.

Jophiel, on the other hand, was relishing the opportunity to explore the Earth further. She had always been fascinated by the beauty of God's creation, and now she had a chance to see it up close and personal. Every corner of Jerusalem held a piece of history, and she couldn't get enough of it.

As they reached the shop, Jophiel pushed open the door, and a little bell chimed above them. They were greeted by the sight of various intricate vases and pottery displayed on shelves and tables.

Lucifer pointed at a sign and asked, "You mean that? The name of the shop."

"Yes, that's the one," Jophiel confirmed with a nod. She took out the address Mr. Ennemond had given them and compared it with the shop's sign. It was a match.

Lucifer, on the other hand, was more focused on their mission. He had a goal in mind, and he was determined to accomplish it. Still, he couldn't help but be intrigued by the transformation he was experiencing. This was a side of him he hadn't known before, a side that seemed to appreciate the beauty and wonder of the world.

A friendly elderly man, presumably Mr. Ennemond's friend, approached them with a warm smile. "Welcome to my shop! How may I assist you today?"

Jophiel explained their purpose for visiting and handed him the slip of paper with the address. The man's eyes lit up with recognition, and he led them to a corner of the shop where a collection of vases were on display.

"Ah, you must be looking for this one," he said, pointing to a particular vase that matched the description on the paper. "It's one of my finest pieces."

Lucifer and Jophiel exchanged a look. It was clear that this vase held great significance to Mr. Ennemond, and they were determined to acquire it.

Lucifer examined the vase closely, recognizing its craftsmanship and the attention to detail. It was undoubtedly a beautiful piece of art, and he couldn't help but appreciate it. He also couldn't help but think of how this would make Mr. Ennemond happy, and in some small way, repay the kindness he had shown by taking them in for the night.

"We'll take it," Lucifer said decisively.

The shop owner smiled and carefully wrapped the vase in protective packaging. Jophiel handled the payment, using the money they had obtained from mortgaging the diamonds.

As they left the shop, Lucifer carried the precious vase with care. They hailed a taxi to take them back to Bethlehem. The ride was peaceful, with Jophiel once again enjoying the scenery and the unique atmosphere of Jerusalem.

When they finally arrived back in Bethlehem, it was late in the afternoon. They returned to Mr. Ennemond's flower shop to retrieve their newly acquired vase.

Mr. Ennemond was delighted when he saw it. "Ah, you found it! Thank you so much," he said with genuine appreciation.

Lucifer simply nodded, not one to dwell on pleasantries. But Jophiel, ever the warm-hearted one, spoke up. "It was our pleasure, Mr. Ennemond. We're glad we could help."

The elderly man's eyes twinkled with gratitude as he carefully placed the vase back where it belonged.

"Now, why don't you both stay for dinner? You've done more than enough for me today," he offered.

Lucifer hesitated for a moment, but Jophiel accepted the invitation on their behalf. After all, it was a chance for them to show their gratitude for Mr. Ennemond's kindness, and perhaps, in some small way, they were learning the value of compassion and connection on their unexpected journey together.

With Mr. Ennemond's insistence, they stayed for dinner. It was a simple but hearty meal, and they shared stories and laughter as the evening unfolded. Mr. Ennemond regaled them with tales of his younger years, and Jophiel was fascinated by the history of the region.

As the night grew darker, Mr. Ennemond looked at Lucifer and Jophiel with a twinkle in his eye. "You know," he began, "I've lived a long and fulfilling life. But tonight, having you both here, sharing this meal, I feel like my heart is lighter than it's been in years."

Lucifer, unaccustomed to such sentiment, nodded in acknowledgment. Jophiel, on the other hand, smiled warmly. "We're grateful for your hospitality, Mr. Ennemond. It's been a pleasure to spend this time with you."

After dinner, they helped Mr. Ennemond clean up, and then bid him goodnight. As they walked back to their place, Jophiel turned to Lucifer. "You know," she said, "despite everything, this journey has been eye-opening. We've seen a different side of humanity, and it's not all darkness and despair."

Lucifer didn't respond immediately, but after a moment, he admitted, "Yes, it's been... different."

Lucifer and Jophiel found themselves strolling through the illuminated streets of Bethlehem. The city had transformed under the soft glow of streetlights, and the evening breeze carried with it a sense of serenity.

As they walked side by side, their steps eventually led them to a tranquil park. The night was calm, and the sound of crickets filled the air. Jophiel couldn't help but smile at the beauty of the moment.

"Lucifer, I never thought I'd see the day when you and I would be wandering the streets of Earth together," she said, her voice filled with a mixture of wonder and contentment.

Lucifer chuckled. "Yes, it's quite the unexpected turn of events, isn't it? But I must admit, there's something strangely captivating about this place."

They continued to walk in comfortable silence, occasionally sharing observations about the world around them. Lucifer pointed out the constellations in the night sky, and Jophiel marveled at how different the stars looked from Earth.

As they approached a small bridge over a gentle stream, their paths diverged, each leading to their respective lodgings. Jophiel turned to face Lucifer, her eyes reflecting the soft moonlight.

"I suppose we should part ways here," she said, a hint of reluctance in her voice.

Lucifer nodded, a rare sincerity in his expression. "Indeed, Jophiel. But before we do, I want to thank you. Not just for helping me with Mr. Ennemond's request, but for reminding me that there's more to existence than power and domination."

Jophiel smiled warmly. "And I want to thank you for showing me that even in the most unexpected places, we can find moments of beauty and connection."

With that, they exchanged a nod, each knowing that their paths would cross again someday. As they continued on their separate ways, Lucifer and Jophiel couldn't help but feel that their journey together was far from over. They had discovered a new perspective on life, one that transcended their celestial origins, and they were eager to see where it would lead them next.

They reached their lodging and settled in for the night. As they lay in their respective beds, Lucifer pondered the events of the day. He couldn't deny that he was changing, slowly but surely, and it was a change he couldn't quite comprehend.

Jophiel, too, contemplated their journey and the newfound connection she was forming with Lucifer. She couldn't help but wonder what lay ahead and how their paths would continue to intertwine.

In the darkness of their room, as Bethlehem slept outside, two celestial beings embarked on a journey of discovery, not only of the world but of themselves and each other.

Days turned into weeks, and Lucifer and Jophiel continued to adapt to their earthly existence. They helped Mr. Ennemond at the flower shop during the day, as Lucifer learning the art of arranging blooms and making new friends among the locals. The more time he spent with the humans, the more he began to appreciate the simple joys of life.

One sunny afternoon, as Jophiel were tending to the shop's vibrant assortment of flowers, a familiar face walked in. It was Ennemond, wearing a wide grin and carrying a bouquet of flowers.

"Good day, my dear," he greeted Jophiel.

Jophiel got surprised glance. "Granpabi! I was so stunned," Jophiel exclaimed.

Ennemond nodded. "You've been busy with the shop, so I thought to give you by my kind of gratitude."

Lucifer arrives, and glanced at the bouquet in Ennemond's hands. "What's the occasion?"

Ennemond's smile widened. "No occasion, really. I just wanted to express my gratitude for all the help and the friendship."

He handed the bouquet to Jophiel, who accepted it with a gracious smile. The flowers were a burst of color and fragrance, a reminder of the beauty they had come to appreciate on Earth.

"We're grateful for your kindness as well, granpabi," Jophiel said, and Lucifer genuinely touched.

Ennemond chuckled. "Ah, my dear Lucifer, you've come a long way from your metaphorically "demon lord" I met on that fateful day by the sea. I never thought you had a gentleness that warms my old heart."

Lucifer's cheeks flushed slightly. "Well, perhaps Earth has had a more profound effect on me than I initially thought."

As the day turned into evening, Ennemond shared stories of his past adventures and experiences with them. They laughed and reminisced, creating new memories together.

As they closed the flower shop that evening, Lucifer and Jophiel looked at each other with a newfound appreciation for the journey they had embarked on together. They had discovered that Earth held not only challenges but also beauty, kindness, and friendship. And in each other, they had found an unexpected companion who had made their earthly sojourn all the more meaningful.

As they bid farewell to Mr. Ennemond, they knew that their celestial origins would forever be a part of them, but they had also embraced the beauty of being human, with all its imperfections and wonders.

"You're the Princess"

"And I'm your Prince"
