Chapter Two Hundred Ninety-Three: Respect

Upon hearing Tang Luo's response, the two girls were so scared that their faces contorted, looking as if they had just seen someone deliberately jumping into a trap. Their conflict between wanting to say something but being too afraid to speak left them at a loss.

The Demon King's reaction was even stranger. As he continually weaved his lies, he realized that even he didn't believe them. But to his surprise, this human in front of him agreed so easily, which made him feel somewhat heavy-hearted.

From the moment they met, this human had addressed him respectfully as "Demon King" and not insulted him despite him being just a remnant spirit. This respect was a long forgotten feeling for him, reminiscent of the deference shown by the younger members of the Demon Race.

Yet he was lying to this human, which made the Nine-Tailed Fox Demon feel a twinge of guilt.

"Are you not afraid I am lying to you?" the aged voice asked faintly.
