Mother Instinct

April felt her heart pounding loudly inside her chest. It was as if it would burst out from within her if she carried on this way. Escape was her only goal so she did not care if she ended up collapsing.

The sound of a baby crying reverberated around her...

It was very dark so she could not see where she was going. Therefore, she stumbled every now and then. But she would get up and run some more. She felt pain from inside and out. Still, it did not matter. In fact, she did not care what happened to her now.

Unfortunately, she had no choice but to keep doing this because being free was the most important thing to her.

Again, the loud wailing of an infant persisted in the background...

From afar, April heard the voices of the men in dark suits who were running after her. They were like a pack of predators pursuing her to eat her up alive. She heard their mocking laughter, like jeers of triumph. They knew she could not outrun them, not in this state.
